X MIA PT 1

Standard thread title where X will obviously applied to any poster we so desire who has not been present in the forum for any amount of time considered as sufficient enough.

In a typical Mine Field fashion, in began sensibly enough, when members had been missing for some amount of time, but will now be posted less than a day after a member hasn't posted. The thread also spawns sequals (obviously, PT2, PT3 ect) from time to time.

Make Up Lies About X

Subject of a brief run of threads started by Captain Wacky in reference to latest Bond actor, Daniel Craig.

When Craig was unveiled as the new Bond, the Interweb & Rag-Mags reacted with collective horror that a blonde man could be Bond. Wacky celebrated this in his own special way, spawning a popular, if currently abandoned thread. Several others soon followed.

Remember Chakotay!

Term plastered across numerous threads by a particularly durable script-spammer.

The first appearance can actually be traced to August 2003 here:

This script-spamming ran for a couple of days, and over four registered accounts, all eventually deleted. I for one am uncertain over the origins of provocation behind the incident, but the four accounts can be named:

Ballpeen Hammer
Ballpeen2
Chakotay
Tom Paris

Searches show this term made over 1000 appearances by the account before it was killed. Naturally, the posts remain, like an imbedded ghost in threads across the board. The term is now randomly inserted into threads as a nod to this incident.

Following the 'Remember Chakotay' incident, the Bullpeen2 account script-spammed the following message in hundreds of threads:

The Chakotay & Tom Paris accounts were actually registered some two month earlier in June 2003. Chakotay was first, and all his posts were deleted. The Tom Paris ones remain:

Usually shouted by a member at any given time. Sometimes not specific to the Mine Field. It has even been used as a semi-regular non sequitar in random threads. The user of such as term has never actually left forever.

Henoch is the leading user of the term, and is also the funniest at it's use. Other users of it, sometimes flounce out with a flourish, sometimes not, and assure many around them they have no intent to post ever again. And then proceeed to post again.

A regular contributory thread by Captain Wacky consisting of random outpourings. Found scattered throughout The Mine Field in good number. Provides excellent entertainment, for sure.

This Day in History

Daily (or thereabouts) thread by curiousa2z, giving details of aparticular event that happened on the day down the years. Serves to raise our general knowledge & intellect, as posting at TK usually has the exact opposite effect.
 
STICK TO THE FUCKING FORMAT.


This quote can be attributed to CaptainWacky and was started after Mentalist (Hey, that's me!) made a Top 100 Episode Guide thread that started off innocently enough but ended up getting slightly tense with people disagreeing what should or should not be included in the list.

Two years later CaptainWacky would make a Top 100 Characters list and after starting off well it soon ended up creating its own mini drama which culminated in one of the most pointless and overhyped spats in the Mine Fields history.

The "Stick to the Fucking Format" quote was first aimed at BDM for not presenting his entry in to the list in the proper format. It can now be used whenever someone goes "off program" for whatever reason.

Cassie spotted the birth of a true MEEP when "FILTHYRECWHORE" stumbled into our lives in an attempt to cause us misery. He reached true Lexicon status with his seminal "IF POSSIBLE, I WOULD SHIT ON THIS SITE" thread (caps of course) where he tried to accentuate his hatred for us by using the adjective "BIGTIME"

lolpoop: jovial way to acknowledge intentionally silly or faux-dumb joke/humor.

Made popular by Cock, its origins go back to the revelation that Tisiphone had accidentally typed the word POOP while captioning an episode of Ellen Degeneres' talk show. At one point in Tisi's thread, Eggs Mayonnaise summed up the long progression of bathroom humor with the post "LOL POOP" which at the time caught Cock by surprise and delighted him. Cock went on to use it in future posts to similar effect, condensing it to one lowercase word.
