Absolutely my first reaction as well - I am sure there has been some colour balancing of some description, but I am fairly sure the core elements are real.

Still incredible, however it has been captured.

I think its just a long exposure, you have to go long if you want to capture lightning, that's why it looks better than life, because its not something the human eye would ever see.
