Movies you hated, but critics loved

^^You'll love it, I guarantee it!

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story is way better; see it first.

I'll tell you what film I loved and the critics love, Juno. Go out, go now and go see it, it was truly awesome. Funny, interesting and touching. And I can't get the soundtrack out of my head.

I have to agree with LG, Juno is awesome.

I really can't think of any movie that the critics liked and I didn't. Mainly because I don't pay attention to critics because they're generally know it all pompous assholes.

I did like The Departed and American Beauty, though. And American History X...

Napolean Dynamite's probably the worst movie I've seen, but I can't remember if the critics liked it or not. Only that all my friends thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.

The Troll Kingdom Movie

Any freaking Woody Allen movie. I do not understand what anybody finds even remotely interesting about that little pervert. Ewww, ewww, and another ewww. I can't stand to look at him and then he opens his mouth and speaks and I wonder how anybody can sit there and listen to him for one second more.

Well he's been making movies for 40 years, and he's only been a filthy perv for 15 years. ;)

I'm tired of seeing him act onscreen in his movies, but once in a while he churns out an okay flick. I think the last one I really liked was Small Time Crooks. Match Point was ehh okay, but it didn't live up to the hype for me.

Yes.. Woody Allen! What is the attraction to him and his movies? The critics eat his shit up, and I've never liked his movies much.

For a long time he made great films, but his heyday was over a long time ago. He went from screwball comedy to arthouse comedy to arthouse drama, and now flip-flops between them each year.

It's always best to view his films chronologically. The older stuff is just plain funny, and as you get to the 80s things get deeper and more heartfelt, but by the 90s the messages get more disjointed and jaded. But once every several years he stops the psychoanalysis and makes another screwball comedy, like Bullets Over Broadway or Small Time Crooks. Those movies manage to redeem him as an entertainer. But overall, his output is more miss than hit these days.

Yeah, I think I remember a couple of his films that were entertaining. BUT I'm not a movie buff, so what I remember is the more recent films.

I enjoyed Mighty Aphrodite, but that was because of Mira Sorvino.

I can't decide about Juno, though. I've read some mixed reviews, and I have a feeling that I'll be in the minority. Sometimes a movie can be a little too cool for school, and I fear that's what I'll think about Juno, so I may wait a while longer for that one.

I've heard the first 10-15 minutes of Juno is almost unbearable --but that it improves quickly and wins you over.

Probably won't catch it this weekend...Cloverfield and all that. :bigass:
