My Monitor

Gonad

DON'T FUCK WITH MY TITLE BITCH
Is making a *snap* crackle sort of sound, but there's no burning smell like there is with the other monitor. Sometimes it just turns off out of nowhere. Is that a heat register or something? I think I'm going to turn off the monitor and do other things for a while but I will check back for your thoughts.

Power it down , unplug it and blast it with a can of air. A little bug might have crawled into it and got cooked.

I spilled beer in a monitor once and it did not hurt it permanently. It went blank but worked the next day just fine and still works 3 years later.

Oh, really? How can you be so sure that it works fine with your color blindness? ;)

No can of air for this dinosaur of a monitor. If it goes I can just use the one that gives off the burnt scent temporarily.

Could this be a static problem? Mine seems to crackle when I start it up and the air is dry in the room. Once that starts I dust it down with a dryer sheet and that takes care of it.

;)

Oh, I forgot about this thread! It stopped doing it this week, so I think it might have been heat-related. Or something.

I've been trying to keep my monitor cool with ice wrapped in cloth, but tonight it went out again. I turned it off, waited a few minutes and turned it back on. It made a sound like what you hear at a restaurant when they bring out your order of fajitas, and remained blank. So now I've put the original monitor back up; the one that I switched out well over a year ago because it started to smell a little smokey.
