My vacation

My first vacation this year is coming up. Considering I haven't had a real vacation in years, nothing more than a few long weekends here and there, I'm really excited.

Quite a bit of time scheduled on boats and trains looking at scenery. I can hardly wait.

I'm going to the movies first to see the new Pirates movie coming out Friday. Saturday, I'm driving south - a stop in Salado for lunch and a little shopping, then to San Marcos to meet up with some friends. Sunday, I'll go back to Austin for a train ride up into the hill country then an evening cruise on the river to look at the gadzillion bats come out for the night. Monday, will be a glass bottom boat trip in Aquarena Springs. Tuesday, I'll head to San Antonio for a boat ride on the river along the Riverwalk and visit the Alamo while I'm there - haven't seen it since I was an itty bitty kid. Going to eat lots of barbecue and TexMex, visit with some friends, sleep in late in a hotel with room service and a concierge. I'm in need of non-work, put brain on auto-pilot time. Before I leave the area, going to meet with some of my writer friends in Austin before the conference season begins. Then I'm coming back home for a get together with my paralegal and writer's groups here. 10 days off. Woo hoo!

It is a nice beginning. I'm taking more vacations in June, August, October and November. Lots of vacation time built up I have to take or I lose at the end of the year. I can dig it.

Okay - I'm back from my travels. But, I'm still on vacation until Monday morning at 8. Woo hoo!
