Why can you only ever buy a pair of siscors, or a pair of trousers?

Why cant you have one sisscor, or one trouser?

Its a rip off really, I mean anything else you buy, if you had a pair, youd have two of them, a pair of shoes, a pair of socks, but no, trousers and siscors trick you into thinking you have a pair, but really you dont.
