I kind of stopped believing anything Prowse said after he claimed Lucas only hired James Earl Jones because he was being PC and needed a black on the cast.

I feel those letters are more to do with the fact that Prowse has been persona non grata with Lucas since spoiling some elements of Jedi between the Empire and the release of that flick.
As many of us know, Lucas hardly uttered a word to Prowse during the shoot of Jedi and has had little to do with him since. Add to that, that Prowse has always had a chip on his shoulder over how much influence he feels he should have had with Vader, things aren't looking good for him. I bet he's still well to do anyway.
He was an actor with no pedigree hired for his height. I still remember him coming to my school as the Green Cross Code Man, and loudly shouting in his West Country burr, "NOW, WE ALL KNOW HOW TO STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN!".

Prowse has been at at least 3 cons I've gone to, so that either means he's really desperate for the money (as we know from the Daily Mail, only hasbeens on skid row allow themselves to mix with commoners) or he makes loads and loads of money from them and would be stupid to stop.
Anyway, a while back there was a con where he was on stage with a bunch of other minor Wars actors and none of them seemed to have anything nice to say about their filming experiences or even the final films. Kind of sad when an actor's bitter about their most well known role.
