New Gas Cost Predictions for this year

The Legendary Troll King
Looks like the speculating "dot.com" bust is going to hit the oil futures.

The main reason for the high prices has been the weak dollar, and speculators taking advantage of it by buying futures in oil.

As the dollar gets stronger, the price of gas should drop. The current price of gas has much less to do with current price per barrel on oil btw, and as the dollar strengthens (which I believe it will once Bush is de-elected) you'll begin to see a drop at the pump.

It's about 3.85 at some stations in this area.

I like walking. The only gas consumed is what comes out of my butt when I've eaten too many burritos.

I like walking 2x too....i have no reason to drive due to location, but i like to...and i like to own a car also.
I also like to pay to burn excess fuel thru fast acceleration and hard breaking...when i feel like it.
But the price of fuel still pisses me off ;)

Oil speculators are making out like bandits. It is going to be blamed on Bush so they can get away with it.

Oil speculators are only part of the problem. It's a combination of greed on the part of the oil companies and the oil speculators, indifference on the part of the Bush administration, and apathy from the American public. The Bush administration and big oil have been fucking us for years and we just roll over and continue to present for them.

These speculators are using oil as a means to protect their wealth against a weak dollar. If the FED raises the interest rate up then gas prices will come down.

it's 3.85 around here these days, with some places at 3.79

We paid $4.39 2 weeks ago.

My woman wants to fill our new motorhome, I told her no and we will put $100-$150 and see how it goes, we are going to the river this weekend if we go to canada I will fill this bitch at the boarder.

i want to take my woman to canada for her first time and go do some kick ass king salmon fishing befor gas cost $12.00 a gallon

We are getting old, we need to get it done soon, we might not have the funds if 2 or 3 years. i wont cry now about gas prices, i paid 4.50 a gallon for boat gas in canada in 1997. So many years ago I know us Americans whould whine like a motherfuck when gas prices where like what other folks deal with..

fuck it I will pay, I cant make my own gas yet...

Even if people use less gas, the government will bitch about lost revenue and increase the tax to make up thier losses. Making your life less convenient now wont help make your future easier. Make the most outta what you can now, instead of letting gasoline prices dictate how your enjoy your free time.

BTW, if that asshole Clinton started drilling in his term, instead of saying "It wont help anyone for ten years, anyway", we'd have more gas now.

Blaiming speculating is moronic, and dipping into the reserves wont help in the long term. It's time to start making the U.S. more independant of foreign fuels by producing more of our own. Alternatives are a great idea, but until good, cheap, competitive ones exist, saying no more oil use alternatives is an ignorant response to the current 'crisis'.

And fuck Gore. He invested in all that green bullshit, marketed it, created the demand, and he's now raking in the cash while lil kids cry that using electricity is killing polar bears. He's a marketing genius, but a liar is a liar.

Well shit, if you want to play the blame game and point a finger at someone, lets point the finger at that asshat Dwight Eisenhower for establishing the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the first place. Everyone knows once you attach the words "refuge" or "habitat" to something, environmentalists are going to come crawling out of the wood work and scream if you dare touch it. You conservatives screwed the pooch on that one big time. So you got no one to blame but yourselves.

I'm going to say something different than the rest of you, because you're not all seeing the big picture. The government needs to COMPLETELY STOP taxing oil companies and remove some of the restrictions (there are non ecological restrictions) on drilling and refining. Then, they need to stop putting tarrifs on incoming oil from outside sources. Finally, they need to stop taxing all of us at the pump. If that happened, we could see gas prices that are less than $2.

Of course, we could just start telling all of these stuffed-shirt politicians that they need to start paying taxes and actually reporting their true income. Most people in Congress qualify for prosecution under RICO Predicates.

They can't stop taxing gas and oil or anything else for that matter. There wouldn't be enough money to cover all the pet projects and special interests that they keep pledging money to.

What this country really needs is an armed revolt against Washington. Clean out the political trash and go back to the fundamentals of the Constitution.

Also the monecollected from the gas tax goes to build and repair bridges and roads. If we neglect them then they soon will be in disrepair and become unusable. Then we would have to walk everywhere and the gas companies would sell squat.

I think that the healthy chunk (both Fed and State) of my paycheck that they steal every month is more than adequate. Or, how about the percentage of my purchase when I buy clothes or even fast food? Why not just use the taxes that I pay when I sign my checks for my power, internet, cable, water, etc? Who smokes cigarettes/cigars? More than 50% of the cost of most tobacco products comes from taxes. Now, don't you think that all of those billion dollar examples are adequate? Noooo! Of course not.

When something is as non-renewable and vital as natural resources like petrolium products, why the fuck are they taxing me AND the oil company who makes it? That's double dipping. Actually, the oil companies pay taxes on refining in the US, distribution, sales to major station chains, shipment, and finally drilling. That's more like hextuple dipping. At this point I might as well put a condom on the gas nozzle and go fuck myself with it. It'd feel about the same in the long run, right?
