After reading his post I got the impression, he was allowed in because he wanted to speak to 'Robert the Great'.

But you will notice on the main menu page,
the newest member still reads Ruadh

LOL...When will other folks be allowed into EI?
 
grailwolf did say he was an "editor and mod at TV.com" so that's why they let him/her in.

I don't understand why EI is so jumpy over letting new people in. I mean, if they turn into trolls all they have to do is ban/suspend them. Like swatting flies at a picnic. You hate the flies, but somebody has to get rid of them. Every other board on he internet does this. Most don't even warn you, they just make sure you can no longer post.

I am an Admin on another forum and we had one poster who was a nasty little bugger who harassed some of our teenage members, and also had/has a nasty temper. He and all his nasty posts were simply eliminated -- poof, gone, bye-bye, history. Every time he rejoined with another persona, he invariably slipped up and showed his true nature and he was always banned with no fanfare or warning -- just gone. Made him madder than hell, but we just keep a vigilant eye out for hinky posts and that person is "disappeared".

I don't understand why EI chooses to take this route of closing their doors to new people.
 
I have a strong feeling any new members at EI will undergo strong analysis before being let in.

What a wonderful method of strangling your own board to death.

It's like saying "I'm going to be a complete asshole to every woman I meet until I get married...then I'll be nice to that woman." The only women you'll wind up with will be crawlers.
 
They don't care that they're killing the board as long as they're 'safe' from the evil trolls. This paranoia has been bugging me for a long time.

If it were my board I would just let people in and deal with whatever happened. But it's not. And if anyone says anything they're not listened to anyway. So what's the fucking point?

Let's just let this board die and who cares if that happens because we'll be safe from the evil trolls.

Well fuck that!!!!! This 'safety' is not worth the cost. Jesus! I can't stand waht they're doing to my home board.

My sentiments exactly. I think there are quite a few members who may feel the same way as well. But the staff pulls a Dub'ya Bush stunt and doesn't listen. So frustrating...
 
If say, somebody who had stonecast proof they had sucked Robert Picardo's cock round the back of the Paramount studio lot applied, would they let them in?

Ah true, true.

I think it is more than a delusional paranoia though. I think it is a combination of paranoia and an inability of some staff to admit their 'methods' don't work effectively. It's a dangerous stubbornness, because the path the 'loud voices' in the Staff Lounge are on will lead the the destruction of the community.

And you know what I mean by Loud Voices MR! There are only a few who set the tone for the Staff.
 
They should let me buy the board.

I am worried about the board. That's why I finally spoke up. This not letting in new people for fear of trolls is a huge mistake IMO.

In any case, I did what I could.
 
I wonder, how many more members are disaffected? Has anyone else had any conversations with other EI members (who must remain nameless) who have voiced their disagreement with how things are being run?

How many members have you had conversations with, and what was the overall feelings voiced by these people. Was there anything in particular that they were particularly upset with? Has it affected their posting habits at EI or their ability to enjoy being at EI?

All I had was a slight personality adjustment and they freaked out....go figure :)
