New Phone

Dual

RIP Karl 1991-2014
Yesterday I lost my phone.

We got into my car for a drive. We both remembered using my phone while in the car. We didn't get out until I wanted to stop at Starbucks. Then my phone was missing. Nowhere to be found. So I went and got a replacement from the Verizon store.

The end.

The end? or is it?

Three weeks later....

I found the phone under the passenger side front seat. Now I have two phones.

Do Americans have phone cards in your mobiles like we do, so when you lose your phone, you have to get a new phone no. and tell every contact that your old # is no longer you and they should not text you any subversive terrorist or drug dealing shit or threats anymore, NOT EVEN IN JEST? OMG I have no idea how using mobile phones in the US works. I feel dumb. :(

Phone numbers are not slaved to individual phones. A lot of companies even let you keep your phone number if you're coming from another company or getting rid of a land line.

But don't you have some kind of little data card plugged in your mobile phone which contains the data of your phone company and account including your #, kind of like an ID?
It's not like you can't switch phones round here, all you have to do is put that little card into the new one. It's just that you better know where your data chip is because anybody in possession of it can use your account with the phone company.
