New Word Forge feature, censoring

Is there some kind of disease that's been going around for the last couple of decades that causes people's skin to thin out?

I'm really, genuinely starting to have that same resentful feeling about how TPTB are changing WF, as I do about how the old TNZ was changed.

It's all downhill from here. :rwmad:

Oh, what, you don't like a word, you can just censor it out of existence?!

Damn them all to hell.

And now the latest. Sokar and I are in a neg rep battle. I dont care about my rep, he stated he cares about his rep (very bad move IMHO), AND he started it. LOL!

Since you won't go back because you're afraid everyone will be mean to you, why do you care?

No. I won't go back because I see the road the board is taking, and it very strongly mirrors the very road TNZ took right before The Great Migration.

Think about it, Phantom. Censorship.

That I don't mind.

The people who don't like the word "fuck" could easily achieve the same effect by stabbing themselves in their eyes with needles, applying whiteout to their monitor, or even finding a program that will block out the dirty words for them.

What this hack does is remove any excuse the others had for trying to censor others.

You do have a point there, FBI.

However, the fact that the renegade posters from the old TNZ feel like they need to protect themselves from all that nasty, horrible reality tells me that somewhere along the way, the original ideals that were behind the founding of Wordforge have been lost.

Many people want to be able to censor the unacceptable words while they are at work or school where such language can get them in trouble. It has nothing to do with seeing words they don't like...aside from the odd poster like Borgs who has no doubt already censored such words as "permaban" and "Baba".

The ideals of Wordforge are still very much intact as the censorship feature is completely voluntary and easily applied and removed at will.

Edited for accuracy.

Okay..you want my personal opinion...I couldn't give a rat's behind either way. But I do understand some people post from work.

Why should you care if someone else censors their viewing as long as it doesn't censor your viewing?

Because it pisses you off when people whine about it?

I don't know how posting from work matters? There are blocks of words on a page. How can anyone really tell?

More important things to block are avatars and photos. That's alraedy an option.

Why mmmore is needed is beyond me.
