I've had much experience with many races being in close proximity, but I'm no authority, this is my opinion and speculation.

Black people use the word nigger in a very special context. I can only guess (because white folk will never really know what it's like to have slaves for ancestors) that to them, it's an identifier, a common communication, a word to say when you've need a couple more beats in your rap (kinda like "um" to college radio DJs), and so much more than I can fathom.

I saw many people see this word from the outsider's perspective and thus not fully understand what the word was about. They did see it used flippantly and repeatedly and to them, the impact of the word was lost. It had become cliche to them because they didn't know (and how could they) the special context of the word.

To them it was common, but they did find it pissed other people off.

My beef with it is that there are certainly more creative ways to push people's buttons in a thread than with the "n" word. But hey, if you're really good at it, shine on you crazy diamond.

How on earth would I know what my ancestors were like? How would it affect me being more prone to crime and rape?

Yes. I really don't mind blacks calling each other niggers, and I personally don't use that word. So I'm not going to point out a double-standard over a word or picket some black radio station.

This thread wasn't about trolling until a bunch of certain bungie kids came around and thought that their watching anti-racist afternoon specials was the equivalent of years of research and observation.
 
Dude I think we may know what we're talking about from a bit more than afternoon specials.

Maybe some of us deal with extremists in our day jobs and have a particular experience with extremist views and ideologies that goes deeper than jejune musings and philosophical debate about the possibilities of racial inequality? Maybe we even have devoted our lives to efforts in this vein, who knows? Maybe we make huge bucks and have years of experience in the field and find you guys amusing and not a little naive on the topic of extremism and the tidal pull weak minds feel toward the charismatic idealogues and apologists who propagate the ideas of hate?

In other words, you never can tell who the real n00b is.

Sure. There are people who are very, very rich in the United States because slavery gave them a hefty boost. This is a tiny percentage of the people.

But this totally ignores the white people who immigrate here, with not nearly as much cultural knowledge as the average black person, yet manage to make something of themselves in less than a generation. No affirmative action, no "crying racism." Just elbow grease.

No. They started the labor movement, which was basically the first successful civil rights movement in the US. Up until that point, they screamed a lot but were mostly unheard.

I think the black civil rights movement from the 60's borrowed heavily and obviously from the civil rights movement of the laborers, even including the idea of solidarity songs and whatnot.

The underclass is the underclass, and the rich have been taking advantage of them since the bronze age. It doesn't make it right.

What are you talking about? I'm referring to blacks whining about being put down when immigrants from Asia and Europe can make it without demanding affirmative action.

Why can't I take credit for my failures? But see, I want negative karma, therefore my failure is a victory. Thanks for your opinion though, it matters greatly to me.
