One month ago exactly I made a deliberate decision to stop posting at ExIsle.net for good. No fanfare, no complaints in ACQ, no telling off of people whom I disagreed with, I just politely bowed and left. I had received a warning on posting outside of the dread guidelines, and decided I was sick of thought Nazis determining whether I could have an opinion from one week to the next.
In the fullness of time, I have not missed posting at ExIsle. TK isn't perfect, but the silly stuff I can skip over. Most importantly, I don't have any Thought Police telling me what I can or cannot think or say.
Following the recent threads here in Godforsaken Hell Holes I went and looked at the recent posts in Exisle's ACQ, to see what was going on.
The recent threads I see are: Member Cait suspended, Member "G1223" suspended, HeroicFool suspended, and Locking Legit Threads Now? (This is Frakking INSANE). I read through a few of them, and smiled.
I'm not a demanding poster, I like to chat about politics, and say what I think about the latest movie that's out. That's it. I'm not trying to change the world or make profound statements. I post for fun.
My fun has increased greatly not having some goose-stepping moron from Exisle telling me I'm in violation of code 12-a-42(iii) subsection A, clause four.
I feel sorry for people who get suspended every other week and go crawling back to those assclowns who have nothing better to do with their time but make sure everyone thinks Orwellian GoodThought. The posts I read in ACQ have made me smile because a month later, I don't miss the place, and laugh at the ongoing silliness of thought Nazis banning this or that person.
How stupid is it for people to think the Internet's best purpose is to control others. Is that really what a message board is for? Who are they kidding? They are welcome to their thought-controlled board, and I am glad to be rid of it. (Even as I smile at what I see there today! Heh.)
