Off to Attica

Wandered Athens until sundown. Climbed the east face of the Acropolis, then walked for about four hours in random directions through the markets. Drank a small bottle of Ouzo; ate goat cooked with goat cheese and potato. Not bad. Went out a little later and eventually ended up in a grocery. Cheap wine - packed in 1.5 litre water bottles at 2,5 Euros each; Ouzo packaged in the same manner at 9 Euros. We saw it at first and started laughing; the clear Ouzo in a water bottle was great camouflage. We bought three litres of wine for five Euros and found a park. Half a dozen tortoises were living in a pond of trash. Climbed to the top of the hill; upon entering the park we'd been sober, when we reached the top we were pretty wasted. Sat with the Acropolis on our left and the cityscape everywhere else and discussed politics until sunset, then returned to the hotel and fell asleep.

Wow. That sounds like an awesome trip. I'd like to travel like that someday.

Got up early and ate a massive breakfast on the roof (five plates), then went on a droll half day tour. Went to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Olympic Arena, and the Acropolis again before leaving the tour. We proceeded to check out the murder hill and the birthplace of democracy, which had absolutely nobody around. Wandered the streets some more, bought some Makedonian Tsipouro at a market. I'm planning on getting exquisitely wasted on that in just a little bit. It's so hot here; I'm sweating a deluge and have to shower three times a day. No secks yet.

Who's "we"?

My friend Stephan and I.

Drank the bottle of Tsipouro; strong stuff. Met a Nigerian girl named Elize; she probably wanted to 419 me ;) Wandered into the murky backstreets of Psiri and wound up in a shady tavern of ambiguously Turko-Arabic origin and ate a delicious plate of chicken curry and rice, a bargain at only five Euros. Ended up back in the Plaka and passed out on my balcony. Going to Delphi today.
