Official Trek 11 countdown/news thread

I wasn't sure which of the 5,000 Star Trek threads to post this in, so I'll put it here because it's the biggest.

Watch this video (it's not from the film, just a little CGI demo using the film Enterprise and Kelvin) and it's AWESOME.

DVD extras look pretty good. Bit fuzzy on the 3D tour, though.

I still haven't seen it. :(

I still haven't seen it. :(

!!!! What's wrong with you, man!

It was good.

It was VERY good. I really enjoyed it.

I've seen it three times. Last time was on a plane, which was cool because the turbulence made it feel like I was in the movie.

DID THEY EDIT OUT ALL THE SWEARING ON THE PLANE VERSION?

I think they cut out "bullshit", but Kirk's hands landing on Uhura's tits thankfully survived.

Is it should. I wish I had Kirk's hands.

Hmm. Better without it, but interesting to see.

Well it's nice to see what it was up to for the 20-odd years before Spock arrived, and where he got the [strike]Ceti Eels[/strike] Centaurian Slugs from.

It's interesting that the Nero comic works around that scene, too, so I guess it still "counts":

Although then the Nero comics went a bit nuts...

WTF? Where'd V'Ger come into things?

Right, basically they're establishing that the Narada seems to be partly self-aware or something (I guess because of how in the Countdown comics they say it's got Borg parts), and that Nero is developing a psychic link with it (it sort of works, much better than it sounds when I'm explaining it anyway).

Apparently when the Narada entered the timeline V'Ger managed to sense another sentient ship machine thing (like itself) and so changed course to go meet it. After the 20 or so years Nero was on Rura Penthe, V'Ger reactivates the Narada (which was in Rura Penthe orbit), and Nero senses this which is why he makes his escape at that time.

Nero then (somehow) books off in the Narada to the edge of the Delta Quadrant to meet V'Ger, who he believes is a powerful enough computer to use to help work out at what point Spock will appear through the black hole.

So, yeah, V'Ger.

OH V'Ger.

Must've had a lot of parking fines leaving his ship orbiting Rura Penthe for so long.
