On one hand

Of course John Pavlovitz says this and I have to agree, but there is a part of me that sort of just wants the punch to return.
He was not "defending his wife." That implies she was in physical danger. He was hurt for his wife's emotional pain and responded with physical violence against the person who said hurtful words. Again, if you want the world to work that way, great. I think we can do better.

And then there is this:

@MuellerSheWrote
I fell in love with a man who physically confronted people that offended me. That man ended up assaulting me, too. It seems great at first, but it’s not.

Now watching the Oscars in its entirety I feel differently about it.
I feel for Chris Rock. That was really shitty and shouldn't have happened.
But I tried to watch the first part of the Oscars, knowing what was coming up and just enjoying people's accomplishments.

It was definitely a disturbing experience any way you look at it. Part of me is now thinking it was staged, otherwise the cops would have dragged him off stage since that was an actual assault.
