Absolutely love, love this movie. Caught it on Encore a few weeks ago, and it's on again today. The music is beautiful, and Ralph and Cate are so quirky and adorable, that I watch it even though I know what happens.
^It's about Oscar, a godly man, who has a penchant for gambling, but knows deep down it's a sin...or is it? Then there's Lucinda, an eccentric young woman who came into money after the death of her mother, and on a whim, invests in a glass company that turns out to be very lucrative for her. She's also got a thing for gambling, although it's not considered ladylike. It takes place in Victorian Australia.
He's obsessive, and she's compulsive, but they find each other along the way, and fall in love, turning everything they do together into a game of sorts. Both are very, very odd characters, but it works. The music is beautiful, and Ralph Fiennes is absolutely adorable. I highly recommend it if you get the chance.
