It was good, IMO! It's probably not for everyone, I'll probably be the only MFer watching it, but I really liked it. PLUS ALSO Bear McCreary does the music, so that part is awesome. If you can watch the opening scene (it might be blocked outside the US SORRY) you will hear that it has some similar sounds to Black Sails. That drum sound especially.

Time travel romance! There are lots of people complaining that it's FOR GIRLS, and it probably will appeal to ladies more? I DON'T KNOW. When I was a teenager I read the shit out of historical romance novels right along with science fiction and fantasy, I loved all of it. The only thing science fiction about this show is the time travel bit, and that really seems more fantasy than sci fi. Magical standing stones would be fantasy, I suppose. Anyway, the scenery in the show is lovely, the acting was really good, and I think the story is going to be good too (I haven't read the books). Lots of sex and violence, but it's not as graphic as some other Starz shows have been, and at the same time it looks more realistic.

Received the paper backs on this series several years ago from an Assie friend. I enjoyed the first book although I had to laugh at how often the lead male character (Jamie) was injured in the first couple of chapters. If I was a cop and I saw how often he was injured I'd have brought in Claire for domestic abuse questioning -- Jamie was so "accident" prone. Anyway, the book was good and there it was a very large paperback sized book.

I very much enjoyed the "Outlander" show last night and look forward to the next one in this series. The English always seem to produce a much better product for your screen enjoyment -- excellen acting, beautiful detail and gorgeous countryside. Show was excellent!

Starz Renews Outlander for Season 2 After Just One Episode - Outlander Community - TV.com

Starz isn't planning on hanging up its kilt just yet, and has renewed its freshman drama Outlander less than a week after the show's premiere, the network announced Friday.

The genre-spanning historical fantasy, which is based on Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series of novels, officially debuted Saturday after a week of multi-platform sampling (read: the pilot was available online and on demand). According to Starz, the first episode surpassed five million views in its first week and drew equal male and female viewership. And while early renewals are generally no big deal to the network, Outlander has all the makings of a hit for the premium cable channel.

Outlander's second season will consist of at least 13 episodes and follow the second book (out of eight) in Gabaldon's saga, Dragonfly in Amber. Meanwhile, the first half of the show's 16-episode first season will conclude Saturday, September 27.

Yay!

OUTLANDER IS BACK TONIGHT MOFOS :rwmad:

It's really good. MORE OF YOU JERKS SHOULD WATCH IT.

It's only on Amazon here so I'll NEVER WATCH IT. My mum said she read some of the books so I don't know if I'd like OLD WOMAN THINGS.

Bear McCreary is fucking adorable. I THINK THE TUMBLRS WOULD CALL HIM A CINNAMON BUN.
