Rumours are swirling in Hollywood that actor Owen Wilson is recovering at a Los Angeles hospital from an alleged suicide attempt.

Entertainment website TMZ.com reported that police and an ambulance responded to a 911 call from Wilson's house Sunday around noon. The 38-year-old was rushed to a hospital where he's reportedly in stable condition and is being comforted by brothers Andrew and Luke.

Other reports in entertainment magazines said Wilson had cut his wrists and overdosed on pills before being discovered by a family member at his Santa Monica home.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton reported "both of Owen's wrists were slashed superficially and Owen had taken an overdose of pills."

And while there hasn't been an official statement from the Wilson camp, the Santa Monica Police Department released a confirmation that officers responded to a medical assistance call from Wilson's address.

``The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated,'' the statement read.

The star of 'Wedding Crashers' and 'Starsky and Hutch' reportedly split with his actor girlfriend Kate Hudson following a brief trip to Australia where the couple promoted the comedy 'You, Me and Dupree'. He's currently in the middle of filming the Ben Stiller-directed comedy 'Tropic Thunder'.

I can see why he would try to kill himself, millionaire actors with great senses of humour always find it hard to meet new gfs.

That's kind of sad. He seemed like an okay chap. I hope he recovers fully.
 
This all goes to show that I am correct in my belief that women are evil.

I've never liked him much in movies(his roles all seem identical to me), but it's sad if anyone wants to kill themselves.
 
I used to think he seemed like a nice enough guy.

But suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness.
 
I always get confused why they say things like "the Wilson Camp" I mean, does he have a team of people under canvas round a camp fire singing Ging Gang Goolie?

People who commit suicide aren't trying to be selfish, often the opposite in fact (they think their friends and family would be better off without them.)
 
I think he's just tired of having to make movies with Ben Stiller.

So, this sarcastic comment must mean that you believe you DID see it coming.

Are you on some sort of Owen Wilson Fan site stalking him? Are you in his camp? WTF are you doing checking Owen Wilsons regular state of mind is?
 
Every sentence of every "story" about him today began with "Sources say..." meaning nobody knows dick about what really happened and why.
 
Meet the Parents was good but Meet the Fockers sucked.

He was good in Zoolander.
 
Meet The Fockers didn't suck, but I don't remember him in it. Haven't seen it since the cinema though.
