Aw, that's sad. He's not a very good actor but he always seemed like a nice person. Cancer is a terrible way to go.

I thought the pancreas was one of those organs we didn't need much? Was it not possible for them to remove it before the cancer spread?

I had seen a pic of him recently and thought he looked terrible. Didn't realize he was ill.
That's too bad.

At first it was only the National Enquirer rag reporting it, so nobody wanted to believe it. But since then one of his reps spoke up, and it's starting to appear on the legit newswires, so I guess it's true.

It might not be quite as dire as the rags are painting it:

Swayze's publicist issued the following statement: "Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment."

The statement continues, "Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."

Its saying the same on the BBC, he has it, but its not life threatening at the moment.

Cancer is always life threatening, but he's probably not as close to death as the tabloids make him out to be.
