Poll: 2 + 2 = 5

I told you so...

Amazingly, most Americans believe that God created
humans in their present form,
according to a new CBS poll (Marty Kaplan); only 15% think Darwin had
it right – that humans evolved from less advanced life forms over
millions of years in a non-divine process.

And that ain't all, folks....

This result joins polls saying that most Americans think Saddam was
behind 9/11, or that we found WMD’s in Iraq.

What is your opinion about these polls?

(A) Most Americans must be either jaw-droppingly stupid or dangerously misinformed.

(B) It’s scary that these are the same people who vote.

(C) The strength of our democratic system is that it respects diverse points of view (except for you secular homo abortionists).

(D) Media polling and he-said/she-said reporting about matters of scientific fact as if they were merely matters of personal opinion degrades society, subverts education and undermines democracy.

This reminds me of Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" portion... :biteme:

That would be (a) and (b)

When did Darwin say that? The fact is this, Science doesn't upset the idea of divine intervention into just about everything. It upsets orginized religion, sure, but if you pull back on science then its quite easy to accept them as just the "rules" of the universe, how things work if you will. It does not stop us in beliving that everthing *is* for a reason.

But that wasn't your point really so forget it. Yes, the majority of the world are basically dumb as shit. But then we're still going through evolution so lets see how it all pans out, evolution didn't stop with retractable thumbs.

All of me relatively intelligent friends here in america know enough to go to the British news web sites for the objective news (and more often than not, the accurate news).

Meh... the thing about polls is that you have to find people willing to give their time to be polled, and most intelligent americans have better things to do. Unintelligent americans, I imagine, are suprised and delighted, "What? You want my opinion? Well shitchyeah, lemmy tell you what I think about that Saddam and the reasons he had his brother-in-law fly those planes into the twin towers in Warshington D.E.!!!"
