Poll: how do you pronounce "tomato"?

curiousa2z

Be patient till the last.
we come from all over the place; how do you say "tomato" where you live?

1. I say tomayto

2. I say tomah to

3. I switch between either.

Tomah to

AND PROUD PEOPLE, PROUD I SAY!

heh. me too. :)

I say it more like T'may-toe.

There's no option for "termayter." :(

The proper way.

to mah to

Ta-may-toe, accent on the may.

To-mah-o

North London accent ahoy

I clicked on "to mah to" since it's closest.

thanks for your input!
shoot; this has been an education; I didnt make enough options!
but it's been interesting learning about regional variances.

yes, I'm curious about the weirdest things.... :D

My mom used to say "tommy toe", but I think she was just being silly.

I went with "to may to".

I ALSO forgot to ask folks where they hail from (general region, that is - this is NOT a clever stalking ploy)

me not very good at scientific polls. :(

Well, as you can see, Americans pronounce it "tomayto" and the UKians and our trai - er neighbors - to the North pronounce it "tomahto."

actually, most of the people I know say "tomayto" due to constant American attempts at dominati- er - hearing it on the TV alot.
But we come from solid eastern Canadian LOYALIST stock, speaking of trait- erm, differences in liguistical traditions.

*coughs* 1812 *coughs*

lol! sorry! channeling Luci there for a moment! :D

Canana is america's attic.

Well you know I'm from the south.. I probably should've told you that I say tamayda usually, and occasionally tamayto depends on how fast I"m talking or in what context. I think if I"m making tomato gravy I say tamayda and if I'm making a sandwich I say tamayto.

cool! :D

yeah, like Norman Bates' attic. c'mon up and have a look....mwhahahaha

I was thinking more like those loft conversions that look way cooler than the rest of the house. Like McCauley Culkin's room in Home Alone.
