Post cool spaceships here

Boobie inspector
if youve ever seen a spaceship in an illustration that you thought would look good in 3D, post it here, and I might have a go at making it.

I can't think of anything you wouldn't already know or have done...

HOW AOBUT THE MILLENNIUM FALCON BUT MADE OUT OF CHEESE LOL

Because Bucks ship was the original design for the viper
Makes sense. It's more fangy.

Whisky: Care to try your hand at some old spaceship sketches of mine? I'll have to dig them up & scan them, which may take a couple days. They're detailed: Graph paper, schematic-type drawings (although it's not draftmanship --most are still in pencil). I've been curious for years what they'd look like with a 3D graphics treatment, as I came up with most of the designs back in the Apple IIe era.

Depends how time consuming it would be, but I'll certainly look at them, I am always looking for inspiration.

Saint, I did a fair amount of research into the viper before I made it, in fact the design goes even further back than BSG, it was also a rejected X wing design for star wars, so Buck didnt get a second hand ship, he got a third hand ship.

Okay, in the next day or two, hopefully. This weekend I unearthed:

1. a design I for an Enterprise "E" that I stormed up with in between Generations & First Contatct (fuck was that 12 years ago?!?).

2. a design for a federation destroyer; kind of between the Defiant and a capital ship.

2. a VTOL aircraft largely derived from the Slave I, if the Slave I operated sideways.

3. an asteroid cutter whose origin lies in me re-arranging the pieces of an AT-AT model into SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

4. an old design for a fighter --completely my own.

Stay tuned...

I just went back to my Galactica model after a couple of months.. I've forgotten what half the blimmin buttons do.

Fuckers threw me out of Kinkos before I could make more scans (that's what you get for going in 15 minutes before closing)

So, yeah...The idea was a VTOL craft for a team of superheroes, some of which could fly (which made anything with rotors not terribly favored.) They design & built their own. Kind of a poor man's Blackbird.

The lettering on the side view doesn't jibe at all with the curvature of that part of the fuselage (as you can see from the front view).

And in hindsight I'm not sure the tail rotor was necessary; this was before I learned that the main reason helicopters have them was to counteract the reaction to the rotor spin.(does that qualify as a Coriolis effect?) And aerodynamically the whole thing's questionable --I doubt it could handle supersonic speeds with that huge gap in the back creating tons of drag. I though it looked cool, though.

More soon...and lemme know what y'all think.

Can't say the lawnmower-green of the Thunderbirds ship is thrilling.

See, here's the thing -- I can't sketch worth a shit. Couldn't draw a straight line with a fuckin' ruler. But I can use words pretty decently.

What I'd like to see is a ship that has the general feel of Serenity in the detailing but the overall shape much closer to one of the aerial Hunter-Killer drones from the Terminator films, and -- along that theme -- heavy armament on the "wings" and an AH-1 Super Cobra style cannon under the nose.
