I want to smell dark matter
I remember when I first started posting in the Mine Field, nearly five years ago. It was just me, Skaggy Joe, Brain Nose, FridgeGirl and Smelly Pete. Well, as you can probably see, they're all gone now. Skaggy Joe didn't last a year. Nose and FridgeGirl haven't been heard of since early '03. I know they met up (remember those pics of them at Niagra Falls?) and hit it off together, so I hope things are still going well between them. Smelly Pete still drops in from time to time...though the last time was almost 8 months ago. I can't really say I'm friends with any of them now and it makes me sad.
Of course, I've made new friends over the years, watched many come and go. Who could ever foget BlackRock, Chester, The Cat's Whiskers, Sarah289, BadgerFace and Ralph_PIGGUM? Not me! You can still see some of their posts in the archives. They were legends, each in their own right, and I'm ashamed to admit that I couldn't see it at the time. You don't know what you've got until it's gone, as they say.
Well, I seriously doubt I'll be here for another five years but I know there's a new generation of MineFieldians to carry on: AlienMonkey, CraftyCraig, Banana8, Buffy'sStake'sStake and Pants just to name a few. I'm sure they'll have as much fun here as I've had. Maybe even more.
Here's to the next generation!
Cheers,
Alex
