Here are some cool articles relating to the new Batman Villains.

Apparently they're trying to cast both Riddler and Penguin.

If they pull off who they want for Riddler, it'll blow Ledger out of the goddamned grave.

DEPP AS FUCKING RIDDLER!!!

On not-so-amazing news, Philip Seymour Hoffman was approached for the role of Penguin.
 
Both top notch choices. IMO!

I bet the search for Catwoman will produce a Hollywood girlfight of Biblical proportions.

Isnt PSH a bit tall and bulky for the penguin though?

I don't think you'll be seeing him in spandex/tights, since he will most probably undergo a "gothy", "spooky", and "thought provoking" remake. Supervillains in tights and spandex imply a sense of old-school and family friendliness. The kiddies and the movie-going crowd don't like that. Therefore, from now on, every Batman villainon shall be portrayed as a Marylin Manson clone in every movie adaptation. The age of good old cute and cuddly comic book villains is over ... now its' mandatory that the villain should be dark/hardcore/totally awesome.

In Riddler's case though, the chances are that Depp will top Carrey's performance because : 1) Carrey's portrayal of the Riddler sucked 2) Depp is a more talented actor.

However, I am doubtful that Seymour-Hoffman would be able to top DeVito.


My candidates for future Batman villains :

Brian Warner

Daniel Lloyd-Davey

Varg Vikernes

Alice Cooper (That would seriously kick ass, though)

Amy Lee
 
Imagine Depp's personae from the following films combined.

Scissorhands, Benny & Joon, Gilbert Grape (introspective AND dark... shit. The end of Gilbert Grape fucked with my head)
From Hell, Sleepy Hollow, and Donnie Brasco (for his ability to see crime and associate with it)
All PotC's and Once Upon a Time in Mexico (his ability to be a mastermind)
Fear & Loathing (Dark Comedy)
Sweeny Todd (Just incredibly evil)
Finally, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (for his sheer creepiness)

Depp's got the right stuff for the role.

Robin Williams is a tough act to top no matter how you slice it.

Carrey isn't so hard to overcome. Especially if they use Depp who has a much firmer grasp of dark comedy.
 
They should use William Fitchner from the opening of TDK. After all, "What doesn't kill you makes you stranger!"
