Quark, still?

Archibald Nixon

I've been out of the graphic-design/desktop publishing loop for something like 12 years now (seriously: When I took classes they were being taught on Mac 640's or 820's or whatever --64M RAM was considered high-end). A few questions:

--Is Quark still the "industry standard" for layout? Is it even still used?

--If so, did they ever make it work well for PC's?

--Has anything come along that's better?

Thanks in advance :)

QuarkXPress is most definitley still the industry standard. It has dominated the field for well over a decade and never been surpassed. The only software to attempt to take a bite out of Quark is Adobe Indesign which gained a foothold due to the OSX compatibility fiasco that Quark fucked up. Not to mention Indesign is half the price of Quark and obviously works more seamlessly with Photoshop. Still, Quark is still top dog for now despite it's insane pricing. I think it still retails at over a thousand quid.

As for its performance with Windows: It works fine.
