Clarkston public access channel have taken the “Scriptures for America” television show off the air after the host Pastor Peter Peters referred to President Barack Obama as a “monkey-boy” on the program and in his church newsletter.
Peters also used the N-word in his newsletter, referring to Obama.
Independence Township Trustee Neil Wallace said residents have come to him, complaining about this show and wanting to get it off the air.
“I have not seen this show, though it is just one example of why we need to have oversight that I consider citizenship, not censorship,” said Wallace.
The local access channels for Clarkston are channels 10 and 20, which have identical programming.
Peters, a pastor of the Colorado church La Porte, failed to respond to several emails from The Oakland Press.
After several calls from The Oakland Press about this show, Andrew Reish, program director for the public access station, said he would look into it. The awareness Clark raised about the show was ultimately the reason the public access channel decided to cut it. Reish said he could not give any more information about why the show was cut.
Independence Township resident Jay Clark is one resident who contacted Wallace to complain.
“At first glance, this guy appears like a bumbling, rambling fool,” Clark said. “The sermons are usually an hour-and-a-half long, and he always manages to throw in a few racist remarks regarding Jews and blacks. He’s anti- just about everything except white Anglo-Saxon Protestants.”
