Current score through Day 1: United States 3, Europe 5.

During the morning 4-ball matches (USA on the left):

Woods & Furyk defeated Harrington & Montgomerie 1UP
Henry & Cink halved Casey & Karlsson
Toms & Wetterich lost to Garcia & Maria Olazabel 3&2
Michelson & DiMarco lost to Clarke & Westwood 1UP

During the afternoon Foursomes:

Campbell and Johnson halved Harrington & McGinley
Toms & Cink halved Howell & Stenson
Mickelson & DiMarco halved Montgomerie & Westwood
Woods & Furyk lost to Donald & Garcia 2UP

Ooof. Not a good start for the Americans after day 1. Tiger hit his first tee shot into the water, but he recovered. Sergio Garcia continued his INSANE Ryder Cup putting. Woods & Furyk make a good team.

Can't wait until tomorrow when I can watch from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.!

NO, it's THIRTY-SIX-18, thank you very much! That extra point would make it even worse!

Nah, actually it should have been 19-8 this time, but Paul Casey is pure class, he conceded JJ Henry's 18-foot putt to halve the match, because his team had already one.

I hope Casey can keep on a roll until next season, he's my pick for the next European to win a major on the PGA TOUR. Monty is my sentimental favorite, but Casey's got game.

We're both wrong. 37-19

And yes, Casey took his recent form into the tourney, which is always helpful. In fact, every except Padraig Harrington pulled their weight for Europe.

2006 The K Club, Straffan, County Kildare, Rep. Ireland Europe 18½ 9½ United States
