Sean Combs accused of rape in new lawsuit.

This was why Jennifer Lopez broke up with him. I remember when this happened. I should have put this in "Black People in the News" but whatever.

Rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is being sued by a woman who says he drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1991. In a lawsuit seen by the BBC, the plaintiff says the assault took place during a date with the rapper. Mr Combs recently settled a sexual assault suit brought by R&B singer and former partner Casandra "Cassie" Ventura.

A representative for the rapper called the latest allegations "made up and not credible".

"This is purely a money grab and nothing more," the spokesperson said in a statement to the BBC on Thursday.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff, Joi Dickerson-Neal, says that she knew Mr Combs - who also goes by the stage name Puff Daddy and P Diddy - through acquaintances. She had also appeared in one of his music videos. According to the complaint, on 3 January 1991, she "reluctantly" agreed to meet Mr Combs at a Harlem restaurant where she worked, and he "pushed [her] to keep him company as he attended to a few things in the city". She says that during that time she was drugged by the rapper "resulting in her being in a physical state where she could not independently stand or walk". He later drove her to the place he was staying, where he sexually assaulted her, according to the lawsuit. She says she later learned he secretly filmed the encounter and showed it to a number of other people.

The lawsuit describes how after the alleged assault her life went into a "tailspin" - she struggled with her mental health and soon dropped out of college. The legal action came hours before the New York Adult Survivors Act - which allows alleged victims of sex crimes to sue after the statute of limitations has lapsed - ends on 24 November. "Our client has not been able to escape the continuing impact of the harm Combs caused her many years ago," said Jonathan Goldhirsch, one of the plaintiff's lawyers, in a statement.

"Through the Adult Survivors Act, she can avail herself to the courts to finally seek justice."

A representative for Mr Combs said: "This last-minute lawsuit is an example of how a well-intentioned law can be turned on its head. Ms Dickerson's 32-year-old story is made up and not credible." This is the second sexual assault lawsuit brought against Mr Combs this month. Ms Ventura accused the music mogul of rape and sex trafficking in a federal lawsuit filed last week. She alleged that the rap producer raped and beat her over 10 years starting when she was 19 and he was 37. The two reached a settlement a day after the suit was filed.

Mr Combs had denied Ms Ventura's claims and his lawyer said the decision to settle was not an admission of wrongdoing.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs asks judge to dismiss ‘false’ claim that he, others raped 17-year-old girl

Sean "Diddy" Combs on Friday asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit alleging that he and two co-defendants raped a 17-year girl in a New York recording studio in 2003, saying it was a “false and hideous claim” that was filed too late under the law. The legal move is the latest piece of pushback from the 54-year-old hip-hop mogul and his legal team after he was subjected to several similar lawsuits and a subsequent criminal sex-trafficking investivaction.

“Mr. Combs and his companies categorically deny Plaintiff’s decades-old tale against them, which has caused incalculable damage to their reputations and business standing before any evidence has been presented,” says the filing, which also names Combs-owned corporations as defendants. “Plaintiff cannot allege what day or time of year the alleged incident occurred, but miraculously remembers other salacious details, despite her alleged incapacitated condition.”

The lawsuit was filed in December and amended in March by the woman who now lives in Canada whose name wasn’t disclosed in the court filing. She said she was in 11th grade at a high school in a Detroit suburb in 2003, when Harve Pierre, then the president of Combs’ Bad Boy Entertainment record label, flew her to New York on a private jet and took her to a recording studio, where she was given drugs and alcohol until she was incapable of consenting to sex. Then, the lawsuit said, Pierre, Combs and a man she didn’t know took turns raping her.

What are the allegations made against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs?

SEI197643141.jpg

Sean “Diddy” Combs, a rapper and music mogul credited with helping launch the careers of some of the biggest stars in recent years, is now facing multiple civil lawsuits accusing him of sex trafficking, sexual abuse and rape. Combs, formerly known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and a host of other names, has undergone a myriad of reinventions since the start of his career – but has since entered a new and unwelcome “era”

Federal agents with US Homeland Security raided two of the rapper’s houses in Los Angeles and Miami on 25 March as he faces a string of varying accusations. Combs, 54, has strongly denied all of the allegations against him. His attorneys have branded the lawsuits and their accusations as money grabs, “baseless” or “sickening.” The entertainer has not been formally charged or accused by federal prosecutors of any crime.

Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided by Federal Homeland Security Investigations agents as part of an “ongoing investigation” that the agency did not elaborate on, though NBC News and the Associated Press reported the searches stem from a federal sex trafficking investigation.

Combs has not been formally charged or accused by federal prosecutors of a crime.

The rapper has faced a string of lawsuits, starting when he was sued on Nov. 16 last year by Casandra Ventura, a singer and dancer who alleged Combs raped her in 2018, and subjected her to a yearslong abusive relationship that included punching, kicking and stomping on her and asserting “complete control” over her personal and professional life.

Ventura’s $30 million lawsuit against Combs was settled later that month for an undisclosed amount, with Ventura telling CNN she had chosen to “resolve this matter amicably,” while Combs’ attorney said the settlement was “in no way an admission of wrongdoing” and didn’t change his denial of the allegations.

Later in November, a woman named Joie Dickerson-Neal alleged in a lawsuit Combs drugged her, sexually assaulted her and secretly recorded the assault while she was a college student in 1991.

Separately in November, an anonymous plaintiff accused Combs and singer-songwriter Aaron Hall of raping her and a friend in 1990 or 1991 after meeting at an MCA Records event in New York—a suit that, like the Dickerson-Neal complaint, was filed shortly before the expiration of a New York law temporarily allowing lawsuits for older assault allegations that would ordinarily be past the statute of limitations.

Combs was hit with another sexual assault suit in December, accusing the rapper of drugging and participating in a gang rape of the unnamed accuser in 2003, when the accuser was 17 years old.

The most recent lawsuit against Combs was filed last month by producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, who sued the rapper in New York and alleged he was “subjected to unwanted advances by associates of Diddy at his direction” and was forced to engage in relations with sex workers he hired.

n a set of widely covered allegations, Jones’ lawsuit alleges Combs regularly hosted “sex-trafficking parties” with underage women and illegal drugs, and implies record label executives who looked the other way financially benefited from access to celebrities and dignitaries like the British royal Prince Harry, who is not accused of any wrongdoing or of attending parties himself (Combs’ attorney told the Los Angeles Times the suit includes “reckless name-dropping about events that are pure fiction and simply did not”).

Combs, 54, has denied all of the allegations against him, with his attorneys characterizing some of the lawsuits and their accusations to Forbes as money grabs, “baseless” or “sickening.” Combs has not been criminally charged.

Combs’ former personal chef, Cindy Rueda, accused Combs in a since-settled 2017 sexual harassment lawsuit of having her prepare and serve food to the rapper and his guests while they were engaged in sexual activity or right after they had done so.

Yung Miami

The City Girls rapper and Combs’s ex-girlfriend comes up throughout Jones’s suit. The pair were initially linked in 2021 but were never exclusive. In 2023, Yung Miami told the Cut, “We’re still good friends! But we’re single. That’s not my man. We had our own situation, I’m not gonna put a title on it.”

The most serious claim about Yung Miami (whose legal name is Caresha Romeka Brownlee) in Jones’s complaint is that she transported a drug called tuci across state lines for Combs. The complaint describes tuci as “a pink drug that is a combination of ecstasy and cocaine.”

According to Jones, on one occasion last year Yung Miami got on a plane in order to bring drugs to Combs. “Plaintiff and the Combs Rico Enterprise were rehearsing for ‘Something in the Water Festival’ in Virginia,” the suit reads. “Plaintiff Jones personally witnessed Mr. Combs do a few lines of coke in his dressing room. Defendant Sean Combs wanted tuci but Brendan forgot it, so Defendant Kristina Khorram called Yung Miami. Who then brought it on the private jet from Miami.”

Jones also claims that Yung Miami was one of the women “who were paid a monthly fee to work as Mr. Combs’ sex workers.” Additionally, Jones claims that Yung Miami’s cousin — named as Jane Doe 1 in the case — sexually assaulted him in 2022; she allegedly “burst into the bathroom and began groping” Jones on Thanksgiving Day.

Jennifer Lopez and Diddy’s Relationship Timeline: The Way They Were

Jennifer Lopez and Sean "Diddy" Combs were once one of Hollywood’s hottest A-list couples. The pair started dating after meeting on the set of Lopez’s “If You Had My Love” music video in 1999. Diddy and his on-off partner, Kim Porter, called it quits earlier that year. (They later rekindled their romance, but Porter ended things for good in 2007). Lopez and Diddy split in 2001 after two years together. In a 2023 interview with Vibe, Lopez opened up about why they went their separate ways, telling the outlet that Diddy “wasn’t faithful” to her. “I never caught him [cheating] but I just knew. He’d say he was going to a club for a couple of hours and then never came back that night,” she recalled. “I had to think, do I want to be home with kids in 10 years wondering where somebody is at three in the morning?”
