Serious Question

eloisel

Forever Empress E
What are you doing to help out the survivors of the recent catastrophic events in Mynamar and China? The people affected number in the millions.

Nope. I got nothin'.

However, I'll offer up this pearl of wisdom which came directly from my American History teacher in high school: "GOT TOO MANY PEOPLE IN THE MILITARY! GONNA HAVE TO HAVE A WAR AND KILL SOME OF THEM OFF!"

I don't think that is true - that China is a tiny, feeble nation. I think they've suffered a catastrophe and might could use a little help.

Why would we help China? Because their government won't? That's the largest nation in the world population wise.

However, if you lick the stamp, I'll send them some rice.

It doesn't do any good to help when the governments get in the way of said aid, either.

I was thinking about donating to the American Red Cross. Its been tough the past few years and they are a good organization worldwide. We've got some problems here in the US they will be on scene for as well.

My secret charity acts :

* I donated 2500$ to the victims of the Catherine hurricane.

* I donated 30 Xbox'es to a Children Cancer Center.

* I, in collaboration with an individual who works in the medical field, gathered the hefty amount of 60 000$ to aid the people of Iraq who suffer from miserable health conditions.

* I donate to the Red Cross on monthly basis.

* I am planning to donate about 7000$ to the victims of the earthquakes in China.

I am so great, and the internet is the perfect place to let everyone know about my greatness and charity work. There is nothing nobler than attention whoring in the name of charity.

I also donated 60 dollars to the DotA forum. This video game entertains me, and I thought : For life, for honor, for humankind, for Aiur, I shall spend sixty dollars of my very own hard earned money to help these good folks maintain their website.

I am a great person.

Thank you eloisel for this thread.

I don't usually brag about my charitable acts, then again this thread isn't about attention whoring and showing off. Therefore my posts are in the right context.

Donating to the Red Cross is like pissing in the wind, darling. Their beaurocracy dictates that very little of any money donated actually makes it out to the places that need it.

Think Katrina.

I think you meant Katrina, the biggest Red Cross debacle ever?

This is besides the point. What's important is the self-satisfaction that the act of donating procures you, and writing about how great you are on the internet. It's extremely important that everyone and their grandma know that I sacrifice a portion of my hard earned money to help those who are in need.

How much of that amount actually makes it to the targeted audience is another discussion.
