Saint's recent exchanges with me have cause me to start reading print books again, of all things. I found this at our local bookshop in softcover for about 15 bucks, and after scanning it, immediately bought it.
Turns out it's a fucking gem. The hype promotes it as the single biggest piece of research since the Kinsey Report, which is bullshit. But the dual authors insight on the way culture has shaped modern sexuality is very fresh.
What I'm loving most about it as I'm starting it, is how funny it is. It takes some of the more serious flawed aspects of our sexuality (female thinness, anorexia, bulemia, failed monogamy, treacherous infidelity) and puts a spin on it that makes me smile, while making sense.
Completely refreshing, and highly recommended.
"Sex at Dawn" by Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha. Published by Harper/Perennial.
No doubt it's a kindle or ebook offering at a much lower cost, but I like fondling the pages, actually.
