Is William Shatner Headed to Broadway?

By Andrew Gans
16 Dec 2011

William Shatner, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his work on TV's "Star Trek" and "Boston Legal," will bring his one-man show to Broadway, according to the New York Post.

Shatner's World: We Just Live in It will play two or three weeks at the Music Box Theatre in February 2012. The Music Box is currently the home of the revival of Noel Coward's Private Lives, which is ending its run earlier than scheduled.

The Broadway engagement will kick off a 15-week national tour, according to the New York daily.

Shatner has previously appeared on Broadway in A Shot in the Dark, The World of Suzie Wong and Tamburlaine the Great.

I...I could TOUCH him at the stage door! OMGSQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEetc.

William Shatner's One-Man Show to Hit 20 More U.S. Cities

William Shatner is taking his show further on the road, with a 20-city U.S. tour extension of “Shatner’s World: We Just Live in It.”

The 90-minute, one-man show explores the 81-year-old actor’s life, playing Shakespearean stage characters, Captain Kirk and roles beyond.

The additional dates follow a three-week run at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre from Feb. 14 to March 4 and a 15 city run that ended in April.

Shatner's show received mostly positive reviews during its Broadway run.

Ben Brantley of the New York Times called the show "chatty, digressive and often amusing."

“Although he spends a fair amount of time getting in and out of a
comfy-looking desk chair, and regales us with the story of a riding accident that injured his leg, Mr. Shatner appears hale and full of energy as he reminiscences about his professional and personal lives,” he wrote.

In the New York Post, Elisabeth Vincentelli said: “It’s on the rambling, ramshackle side — think of it as ‘S#*! William Shatner Says’ — but the star’s admirers will gobble up this ham-and-cheese sandwich of a show."

Shatner, who has previously appeared on Broadway three times, said in a statement: “Performing for audiences on the road has been one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve ever had as an actor.”

He's here for a massive Trek convention which seems to have practically everyone who's ever been in the show attending. I wouldn't be surprised if they have some of James Doohan's ashes at the autograph table (but not seated next to the Shat for obvious reasons).

Alas, I'm not attending because it's expensive and not many of my friends like Trek enough to go with me.

Well he always looks like that in the pic he uses for convention appearances and my masturbation fantasies anyway.
