I'm looking forward to it. Taking the fam out for it then drinks after. It looks good at least.

I liked it and I'm not a Bond fan. The bad guy was sufficiently wicked with a particularly nasty bent. Judy Dench was her usual awesome self. Stuff was blown up appropriately - not too much, not too little. The theme is a bit obvious but appropriate for this 50th anniversary nod. Hope you enjoy it.

Someday I hope to be a Bond fan. Hasn't happened yet. It's probably me.

Have you seen it? You might like this one. It had an interesting element to it that you in particular might enjoy although Daniel Craig has no twinkiness about him at all.

I'll watch it in a year and post "well that was okay but I can't believe so many people said it was great with all the OBVIOUS PLOTHOLES" then people who said it was great will reply "yeah I said it was great at the time but I have noticed the OBVIOUS PLOTHOLES" since then.

I thought it was pretty good! Not as good as Casino Royale but still pretty damn good.

But yeah the writing is it's biggest flaw (because John Logan) but it looks amazing.

Is this real life?
I really really enjoyed it and for me it probably was the best Bond ever. Some of the more lightweight ones (thinking of The World is not Enough) are great for switch off your brain action and one-liners, but Skyfall has one thing those don't and that's characterisation. Bond actually feels like a real person with motives beyond just robotically doing as he's ordered.

The same goes for the bad guy too. He's insane and wants to kill everyone, as usual, but you can see where he's coming from.

I did kind of laugh when I saw John Logan and Stuart Baird in the credits, but I think they both did a great job after QoS.

I would still give the edge to Casino Royale because I felt that the story and pacing was somewhat disjointed but I really did like the direction they went with Bond and the set pieces were great, of course. Well worth the admission price.

Be patient till the last.
^yeah, there were way more lines in this one that were actually funny - I don't seem to recall much humour in Bond films before....er, not intentionally, at least.....

I just realized that I don't think I have seen any Bond movies in the theater. Tonight I wanted to see Skyfall but my friend had already seen it so we watched fucking "Killing them softly" and it was a terrible movie.

Did anyone die in it, softly?

So I finally watched this. I'm not a HUGE Bond fan but I'm not a big Bond hater either, so I don't think I was biased either way. I enjoyed it. The cinematography was great. The action was good, especially in the pre-credits bit. Acting was good. I liked the attempts at depth with Bond and M. But, like...the plot was a bit stupid, right? It reminded me a bit of Star Trek Into Darkness (I know this came out first.) So the villains whole thing was getting revenge on M by completely discrediting her then killing her...and he did both these things. So basically Bond's a bit of a loser and it would have made no difference if he hadn't been in the movie?

I'll watch it in a year and post "well that was okay but I can't believe so many people said it was great with all the OBVIOUS PLOTHOLES" then people who said it was great will reply "yeah I said it was great at the time but I have noticed the OBVIOUS PLOTHOLES" since then.

OH BOY...

So the villain's whole thing is that he wants to be captured (just like The Dark Knight Rises, The Avengers to some extent and oh yeah Star Trek Into Darkness) so he can enact his master plan. But Bond only tracks him down after a lengthy and lucky search because he still had some shrapnel in him from when he was shot and another hitman was carrying a casino chip...so, what, did Silva plan on Bond keeping the shrapnel in him for this long and arrange for the hitman to die but leave behind a casino chip?

And then after he's captured and escapes Silva's big plan is...walking into the court house and shooting at Dame Judy Dench (oh and hesitating before shooting at her so she can escape.)

WHY THE FUCK DID HE NEED TO BE CAPTURED TO DO THIS?

I guess Q plugging the master hacker's computer into the MI6 network isn't a plothole, it just means Q is an idiot?

Oh and Bond catches up with Silva right at the exact spot where Silva had set up a bomb (could he just set up a bomb in the courthouse then?) and right when a train is going by...that was pretty lucky.

Then Bond goes to his nicely shot Scottish mansion but doesn't actually have any guns in his secret car even though he's James Fucking Bond and...

Oh and sorry for going all PC gone mad but it's really hard to ignore that Moneypenny's arc is learning that women belong behind the desk, incompetent woman M is replaced by a nice male M and Bond sneaking into the shower of a freed sex slave (who later dies and he doesn't give a fuck.)

Well, anyway, it was an entertaining movie.

Oh man, I never came back and said that I had watched this also. AND I saw it in the theater. I can't even remember that other movie. But I can remember Skyfall.
I somehow became a bond fan accidently. I will not bore you with the details, but I also happen to acquire several bond books as well.

I enjoyed your review CaptainWacky.

PS If anyone cares my favorite bond movie is "From Russia with Love"
And kind of Dr No, just because how hokey it is.

Some are, some are not, avoid the spy who loved me, Bond dosnt even come into it until its about two thirds through, it shares a title only with the film.

So he doesn't do a flip when he's skiing for some reason (HE'S NOT SHOWING OFF) and then "HE'S GOING TO DIE, JAMES BOND IS GOING TO DIE!" but he opens a parachute with a Union Jack on it and Michael's spoiled the ending now?

Its about a maid who works in a hotel, some mafia guys break in because some important senitor will show up there and they plan on killing him, to pass the time they rape her, pretty much nothing happens until Bond shows up 200 pages later, kills the pair of them, then he shags her too, then he leaves, then for the rest of the book she fantasises that Bond loves her, hence, the spy who loved me.

Bond having sex with rape victims seems to be a recurring theme.

And in Goldfinger Pussy galore is a lifelong lesbian, at least until Bond shows her what she has been missing.
