BYE THEN!

So, you think MJ will look a whole lot like Elvis in his next come back?

Morbidly obese trying to juggle eating a tub of lard or using it to slide into his jump suit?

Doubt it.

She was the wrong gender. And too old.

Could of been funny but there was no wit. The age of your jokes alone make you unappealing to MJ's demographic.

Actually, I think she was the right gender but way too young. He has had a thing for Elizabeth Taylor since he was but a wee thing.

I have a thing for madras curry. Doesn't mean I want to go to bed with a pint of it and three poppadoms

When Elvis made his come back he was not morbidly obese!!! He ... was... gorgeous.

I finally saw in him what my mother saw.

You know MJ isn't the only one who has had a nose job or two. Elvis was a jew and he had a hooked roman nose before he sorted it out. And besides, MJ during the bad tour looked 10 times better than Elvis ever did.

All I know about Elvis ...
my mother used to drop us off at the Saturday all afternoon movies while she went to the beauty shop and did some shopping ... except when there was an Elvis movie on she went with us...
my best friend in high school and her mother were fans ...
I saw a lot of velvet paintings of Elvis in Arizona ...
and the man has been dead nearly 30 years and he is still one of the top money making celebrities every year.

The guy is long gone but he is far, far from forgotten.

Still, I think MJ could pull off the EP look with a little surgery, some mashed potatoes, and new clothes.

Hey lay off Elvis! He's the King! I started a whole thread about this and it was polluted with Elvis Costello bullshit.

Actually in all seriousness, the King was the man. Kicked down a lot of doors. That's why when I say the Beatles were awesome, but that was four brilliant musical minds coming together. But Elvis was just Elvis. I laugh at his later 70 years as they seem so ridiculous by today's standards, but I think it would have been fun going to Vegas while he was there. I love Vegas, so maybe thats why I can't GET THIS SONG OUT OF MY HEAD!

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby

Baby close your eyes and listen to the music
Drifting through a summer breeze
It's a groovy night and I can show you how to use it
Come along with me and put your mind at ease

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby

Come on baby I'm tired of talking
Grab your coat and let's start walking
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Don't procrastinate, don't articulate
Girl it's getting late, gettin' upset waitin' around

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby

Oh, I like Elvis just fine. Great artist and peformer, no doubt. I was getting some pre-emptive jabs in before this turns into another Michael slag fest, as he seems to attract that sort of thing. I think some people think it gets to me, which it doesn't. Michael Jackson is an idiot to be honest. He ruined almost everything good about himself. Still, he is a genius and if he actually stops making all these sappy save the children songs and cuts a PROPER album (not Invincible) Then I will be there to buy it immediatly.

Michael Jackson during the Bad Tour was the most insane peformer and magician of stage ever to be witnessed. EVER. Elvis was good, Michael was just better.

I really never like MJ, and I was actually living in South East Asia while his popularity was soaring in the US. I was listening to Def Leppard, Motley Crue, and Ozzy at the time, and just thought MJ was a fairy. I didn't like his music although today I admit he was talented as hell. The funniest memory I have of the time were all the little chinese kids singing "Beat It!" His music was definately for everyone.

But at the end of the day he's a fucking freak who sleeps with kids. May even molest them. I know it hasn't been proven in court, but if it were true, I'd like to see a blow torch taken to his balls, like how I mentioned about child molesters in my other thread.

I make a habit of seperating the art from the artist. While I personally don't believe he did anything wrong with any child, ever. (a discussion that ends up being a circular argument with no clear end so I will drop it now) I am more than a little unimpressed by his behaviour. I think he is a good guy but he just doesn't fucking register what the fuck he is doing, he has been rich and powerful for too long, add a sprinkle of good ol' fashion crazy into the mix and this is what you get. I love MJ, have done since I was six years old, he is a fucking genius of the first order but misguided is probably too light a word to use.

Just because he deserves SOME positive recognition:

  • "When Michael Jackson sings it is with the voice of angels, and when his feet move, you can see God dancing." - Bob Geldof
  • "There are two kinds of people in this world: Michael Jackson fans and losers." - Seth Green
  • "Of every album I have listened to, the best of the year by far has been Invincible. Michael Jackson deserves a lot more credit than he is getting, one of the most influential performers of all time." - Eminem
  • "He is a very smart cookie, Michael. He knows what he wants, he knows what he is doing. I have nothing but admiration. Also, he is a very kind person." - Elton John
  • "He is what every artist looks up to...to be... one time become the next King of Pop." - Backstreet Boys
  • "I don't look at it as he is not the hottest thing any more - I look at what he's done as a groundbreaking artist who opened a lot of doors for black acts. Michael Jackson is still amazing to me." - Missy Elliot
  • "My feelings about Michael Jackson are simple: I think that he's a human being like everyone else and I'm a huge fan of him." - LL Cool J
  • "Michael is magic and all magic people are somehow eccentric. Michael is one of the most lovable, kind and natural people I've ever known. I took him deeply to my heart. I would do everything for him and he would do everything for me." - Elizabeth Taylor
  • "Michael is the wisest and at the same time most naive person I know." - Quincy Jones
  • "He's sort of a fawn in a burning forest. It's a nice place where Michael comes from. I wish we could all spend some time in his world." - Steven Spielberg
  • "I'd be proud to have that kid (Michael) as my son any day." - Bruce Swedien
  • "All this stuff about Michael being a weirdo — it's a pile of goddam... I've recorded a whole lot of these pop-musicians and this guy's the straightest of the goddam lot." - Bruce Swedien
  • "Michael I believed in you when you were a little kid, I believe in you now and I'll never stop believing in you!" - Berry Gordy
  • "Michael's a natural. He's a very hard worker and a super performer. But most of all he's a real human being." - Stevie Wonder
  • "Michael is a generous, honest, and sensitive human being, filled with amazing insight and the capacity for love. If this is weird, I want to go live on another planet." - Karen Faye
  • "All that I know comes from Michael Jackson." - Ricky Martin

Ok, I'm done.

I've been a fan of MJ for a long time as well - about 35 years. I also don't believe that he sexually molested any children. Without a doubt, he has a strange view of the world. I knew a man who behaved with children very much like MJ is very open about. The man I knew was not a child molestor, just very undeveloped in certain parts of his personality. He got more emotionally from his relationships with children than he got from his relationships with adults. Like you, though, I find defending MJ a hard thing to do because MJ doesn't do much to help himself in the public image department.

No doubt, MJ is a genius. MJ also has media markets available to him that Elvis didn't in music videos, 24/7 television, and the internet. Not long ago I got an Elvis collection CD (by accident) from my music club. I didn't get it returned in time and wound up having to buy the thing. So, I listened to it. It surprised me how much I liked it even though I am hardly an Elvis fan. I am an MJ fan and while I do still enjoy much of his old music, and he has had an amazing career, I wonder if he will have the posthumous longevity of Elvis.
