One time we had to go to school during a blizzard because the superintendent didn't want to call a snow day. The road was covered in snow and there was a traffic jam and it took about an hour for the bus to go ten blocks, at which point the bus broke down trying to go up a hill and we all had to get out. I got to spend the night at a friend's house nearby. I hear the people who waited for the bus to get fixed/replaced got home at 7:00.
It's been snowing here all day. First time in 18 years we've had actual snowfall for that length of time. With the exception of what layed overnight, nothing during the day has settled on the main roads. The air is too salty right here on the coast for it to ever really be a major concern.
I should've taken some photos when I was out. I had a nice walk up the highstreet. The underground was closed and the buses weren't running at first. My feet hurt now from walking funny (trying not to slip over all the time). Tomorrow I'll go into central and take some pics if there's still loads of snow.
Eternal sunshine is one reason I'd hate to live there, personally. Someone once said the same thing to me about Egypt "how can you not love a place where the sun shines everyday?" well it's boring, that's how! This snow is really exciting.
I have to admit, living in Texas, our four seasons are Summer, Summer, Summer, Winter. Virginia was the first time I experienced all four of them, and it was gorgeous.
I'm totally over the cold/snow/rain/frozen precip. 36 years was enough for me, I'd much rather wear shorts & flip-flops in February than experience "seasons".
