Space Nazis On The Moon

Well that's good news. The last trailer I saw said 2018 at the end and my heart sank. We could all have been dead before seeing Space Nazis!

I hope they carve Hitler's face into the moon so that it's visible from Earth (remember that book CASSIE?)

Speaking of Sarah Palin - Has anyone here ever met a real SP supporter?

I know one. Listening to him prattle on about her for more than a few minutes is it's own special type of excruciating.

Indeed.

Loktar: I'm glad Sarah Palin didn't become President/Vice President
Loktar's Mom: What's so bad about Sarah Palin?
Loktar: Ugh. *rolleyes, walks away*

If I have to torrent a shitty version of this film to watch it, I'm going to be rather miffed.

I saw this film today.

When I first saw the early trailer ages ago when Mark Kermode was going on about it, "Space Nazis" looked like an awesome premise for the trailer (which was really good), but I was curious as to how well that would last over a full film.

Thankfully, the idea never gets old. I mean never. I mean every time someone in the film says "Space Nazis" it just gets better. Space Nazi Fatigue never sets in.

The film itself is thankfully delightfully silly. It knows exactly what it is, it knows exactly that the only reason we're there is to see Nazis from Space attack The Earth, and that's what it gives you. That, and I thought it was, for the most part, a funny film! Like, laughing with the film rather than at it.

Some of the Sarah Palin satire stuff was a bit on the nose for me, and so fell flat. But there's later scenes at the UN that are much better. The film does try and comment on world politics in general, but it never distracts from the Nazis from the Moon. There's also some pretty good fish-out-of-water stuff when the Nazis see modern day New York.

Part of me wants to say that it all gets too silly at the end, but really it starts off at "too silly" and so I really can't fault it for being too too silly. Once you've accepted the fact that Nazi live on the Moon and fly Flying Saucers you really shouldn't have trouble with the slightly more outlandish ideas the second half of the film has.

OVERALL: I LIKED THIS FILM. There were Nazis from Space and they had Space Blimps towing meteors so they could crash them into the Earth.

It was only in cinemas on Wednesday, but a couple of cinemas in London have extended that run.

It is also out on DVD/Blu-Ray (which is how I watched it) tomorrow, though.
