Spider-Man: Birth of Venom TPB

I've got the day off tomorrow and plan to sit down and enjoy this TPB, which I've had for a few weeks now, but just haven't had the time to read.

Starts with Spidey getting the symbiote in Secret Wars #8, and ends with his first defeat of Venom.

Anyone else read it, or those issues when originally released? I've read some, but missed a few issues and was psyched to finally catch up with this trade.

More to come after I dig in...

I read them all when they were originally released. I loved them at the time, but then I was 14 years old.

I was about fourteen myself when the Venom stuff first came out. I just never could get my hands on the back issues with the black costume.

That's why I'm looking forward to reading most of these stories, as it'll be my first exposure. As for the Venom stuff, it is a little simplistic by today's standards, but I still find it enjoyable.

I don't think we'll ever see Maximum Carnage or the Clone Saga in TPB.

Unless the winds change over at Marvel (i.e., the winds coming out of Quesada's ass) and we get someone with half a mind in charge.

Darkhawk? Man, I remember that. I think I got the first five or so issues.

I saw that the character is back now in one of Marvel's new youth teams.
