Spooking ducks

Mirah

I love you
I've been feeding the ducks at the park. They usually seem to recognize me and walk up to me quiet often even when I don't have food. One time I was emptying the remainder of the bag into the water and it fell. The ducks got spooked and flew to the middle of the lake and were making a lot of noise. I didn't think anything of it, because of course I startled them.
I wanted to get the bag out and so I found a huge stick that was on the other side of the strucure I was on. There were a few remaining ducks nearby but as soon as I pulled out the stick they got spooked again and flew away. I still didn't think anything of it, so I just got the bag out of the water and left.

The next time I came out to feed them all was fine until I took the grey bag out to feed them. And it happened again this morning. I was a little surprised.

I looked it up on line and apparently it is a thing. I found my info on a hunting forum tho. But it shouldnt' last too long especially if you are feeding them.

So I went to the parade in town, and then went to my car, changed my hat, took off my red scarf and changed bags that I was feeding them from. (I did these things sarcastically of course. Don't take it seriouisly!)

And then I walked over to the lake area where I saw some of them and they didn't come right up to me like they normally do. I climbed down onto the bank and started throwing food out and slowly they came over.

After a couple of succesful feedings I thought for sure the ducks were over being spooked.
But they weren't.

I went to one of the usual spots yesterday and saw all of the ducks in the middle of the water so I started laying some food down. Only a few came over, and then some more. I sat and watched them for a while and then I moved or went to get some more food and I spooked them again. I said, "Enough of this BS!"
And I layed the rest of the food down and went to the other side of the lake.
I saw a lady walk through the park and as she got closer to the lake ALL OF THE DUCKS immedietly flew over to her and she layed down some food for them. Whatever she had they loved. So then I put down some food for the ducks on the grass and they ate it. and they were not spooked.
