Star Trek: Prelude To Axanar

Its well made but takes a lot of liberties with cannon.

Even the JJ haters who couldn't stand the enterprise being made on the ground still insist she was built above the earth.

One way or the other it was either on earth or above it, not at Axanar.
 
Hell, I have less problem with where it was built than I have with the JJPrise. That piece of garbage looks like the production notes were, "Okay, this is set in The Cage era, so we want you to draw the movie-era ship and then ugly it up real good."
 
I thought it was really good. I'd expected it to be overly militaristic and kind of be Star Trek in name only, but they neatly addressed how the Federation was forced into fighting a war because of its crazy death worshiping neighbours. I was quite disappointed when it ended, but I understand they're currently making a series showing what happens next.
 
Yeah, I think the idea is that that was just a documentary-style trailer, and the prospective feature length thing is being kickstarted or something. Still, nice production values and actor lineup.
