Because you miss out on more fun. Like when you told people about your trip to Germany. Why be despised and looked down upon so? At any moment you can turn around and actually contribute to the forum you have the balls to post on.

No, you don't. You're simply trying taking the easy way out, and trying to make this whole thing seem intentional on your part. You're still going to post here, you'll just do it as a coward would. Stop being bitter.

The human genetic phenotype which manifests itself as a "need to be accepted amongst one's peers" is a weakness some of us have been able to overcome despite the fact that it has been encoded in our genes by evolutionary processes that took millions of years to perfect.

Casting off that evolutionary emotional baggage (i.e., the "need to be accepted amongst one's peers") is tantamount to liberating one's mind, as it were, thereby enhancing the repertoire of possible responses to novel events or unfamiliar environments that are available to one. In other words, it enhances one's ability to cope with an increasingly chaotic and complex world.
