Stolen art

I have no idea. I had a dispute with Veitch over ownership and reprint rights of work I commissioned he and Bissette to do for the cover of the Journal of Popular Culture#1. (1976) It was my claim that he had stolen it, in the sense that I had purchased the rights to print the work and the reprint rights if there was any work to be done. I originally owned the cover, but traded it to Veitch for about 2 and a half ounces of the most potent vemont sinseimilla you had ever seen (about a 400 trade at the time) along with a couple of the interior pages he did. Y'see Veitch was determined to keep every page he ever drew at the time, that was his Grail, except I bought the piece from Bissette for about 200 dollars, so he had to negotiate to get it. Veitch may deny that ever happened, but Bissette remembers it vividly.

The dispute was never over ownership of the work itself, I was trolling Veitch that he had stolen it from me by not letting me reprint it if I decided to reprint the Journal at any time in the future, because he said he wouldnt give me the rights. I have the original printing plates still, and said I would go ahead and reprint it "any old time I liked" which was when Veitch said he would block the book from being sold with a court injunction if necessary, with me being responsible for paying all the legal fees associated with it.

You have to remember something. Veitch speaks in the present when he talks about this transaction, with all the work he's done on creator rights and ownership of work blah blah blah.

As opposed to the original deal, which was that I paid him 50 dollars for the cover (his half) to print it (that was the actual page rate for him at the time) and 50 to bissette. I bought the cover for another 100. That was HUGE money back then, and NEITHER OF THEM HAD EVER BEEN PUBLISHED BEFORE :bigass:

Comprende?
