Story for the day (Friday)

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
"I just don't see any point in going on, Potion Mistress," said young Hazel Pothole.

"Yes, yes, dearie, a common problem among children your age," said the wise old Potion Mistress at Pigboyle School For Witchcraft, Madam Snoopy. "I have a potion that will fix you right up."

"Oh, I didn't come here for a potion," said Hazel, taken aback. "I was advised to talk to you, because you're the Head of my House..."

"That's true, dearie, but I've talked to dozen of little girls before and I know how to treat them," said Snoopy, smiling dismissively. "Drink this down and you'll be feeling better in no time!"

"Uhh, okay, I suppose...if you'll think it will help." Hazel hadn't come here for a potion, but everyone in the school respected Madam Snoopy so surely it couldn't hurt. Snoopy reached into her cauldren and bottled some of the potion.

"Take one spoonful a day," she said. "It might take about a week for you start feeling better, but once it happens you''ll be a new person!"

"Thanks," said Hazel, leaving with her bottle. She felt like she had more to say, much more, but Snoopy knew best.

She took her first spoonful of potion the next morning. Nothing seemed to happen, but then Snoopy had said it could take a week. Then it came to lunchtime and Hazel didn't feel like eating. She tried to just have a sanwich...and threw up all over the dining room table in the great hall. Everyone laughed. Hazel felt worse than ever. She went back to see Madam Snoopy.

"It made sick, I don't think the potion is working!" she said.

"Nonsense!" said Snoopy, snapping her bony fingers. "Did I not mention that you'll feel worse before you feel better? Well, you will. Now run along now!"

"But..."

"No buts! Run along, there's a good girl."

And so it went on. Hazel would take the potion everyday and feel so sick that she couldn'd eat. Her despair grew worse too. All she could think about was what would happen when she left Pigboyle and entered the unsage wizarding world. She began to think that even Pigboyle wasn't safe and that she could die any moment! She was reduced to a quivering mass lying crying in her bed every night. After ten days of taking the potion it was getting no better, only worse. She made a decision. She threw the potion bottle up against her bathroom wall, smashing it. Then she grabbed one of the shards of glass and marched back to Snoopy's office. Snoopy wasn't there, a helpful ghost told her, she was teaching a potions class in the dungeon. Hazel thanked the ghost and marched down to the dungeon. She threw the door open and strolled in. The students gasped. Snoopy looked up from her cauldren.

"Can I help you...sorry, I've fogotten your name!" said Snoopy, looking concerned as she spotted the shard of glass Hazel was carrying.

"I JUST WANTED TO TALK!" said Hazel, tears running down her face. "YOU MADE ME GO THROUGH HELL! I'LL CUT YOU UP, BITCH!"

She dived at Snoopy...and was struck by a spell from student's wand. Hazel turned to stone there and then.

"The Stonius Maximus curse, excellent!" said Snoopy. "Fifty point to HugglePink house!" And everyone cheered.

The stone Hazel Pothole was left in the entranced hall of PigBoyle castel for all to see, for years to come. An inscription was carved in the stone. It read "HAZEL POTHOLE SHOULD HAVE TOOK HER MEDECINE LIKE A GOOD GIRL!" And so she should have, childrne. And so she should!
