Story for the day (Sunday)

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
He started cutting the grass. He was cutting in lines, going backward and forward over the same spot several times. He would cut every area of the grass equally. Simple.

There were some holes in the ground because a cow had escaped from a nearby farm and trampled through the garden. Those were annoying him a little. Should he go right over them? What if the blade broke? No, don't be stupid, this was a new lawnmower, the blade wouldn't break. He'd bought it specifically because his old mower had been so creaky. It would be fine...

He went to work. It took him quite a long time, but he was satisfied that he'd done a good job...until he noticed a small area of long grass in the corner. How could have have missed it!? No matter, he went over it. He was done. Finally...but he'd better check just one more time.

He went up to his bedroom and looked down on the grass below. It wasn't even! Not at all! Only from this vantage point could he see it. How could he have been so vain as to think it was acceptable? It was not acceptable!

After another twenty minutes of mowing he went back upstairs. It looked good...but there was one long blade he could see. It must have been very long to stand out! He'd have to go over the whole lawn again.

Another twenty minutes later he went back up to check. It looked fine now, perfect even.

Still, he'd better go over it once more just to be safe.

And then another time just to be SUPER SAFE.

Finally, he was down. He looked down at the grass proudly. Four hours well spent.

Now for the front lawn.

I should note that this is a small, scottish sized lawn, and not a massive, AMERICAN YARD for the purpose of the story.

lol .. It takes me about 3 hours to mow my lawn and that is with a riding lawn mower and no OCD.

Yes! I walked into one of those webs the other day and almost crapped my pants.

Yay!! Did you ever come around to liking Dune? It's kinda hard to get into at first but Frank Herbert's style eventually grows on you.. well maybe not everyone but it did me.

Yes, I did like it by the end, it's all very complicated though and doesn't speak down to the reader at all (sometimes I wish it would!) and I dind't quite grasp all the religious and political stuff but wikipedia helped out as always!

Alia is creepy.

Poor Alia, yeah she was pretty creepy... and she gets creepier.

Children of Dune, which is after Messiah, is one of my favorites because it's kinda where it all really starts to happen. There are a lot of parallels to Dune, and you get to understand a bit more about why Paul did some of the things he did. God Emperor is extremely good, but much more complicated than Dune. I think I didn't really enjoy GEoD until I'd read it a few times.

It kind of just drops you in the world and doesn't explain any of the concepts, which I quite like because it makes it seem more real. KIND OF LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS but bleaker.

If you ever want to talk about it here just make a thread because I can talk about Dune all the time OBVIOUSLY.

I'LL CATCH YOU ON MSN EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE NOT ON MY LIST AND I DON'T LIKE TALKING TO PEOPLE ON MSN AND NEITHER DO YOU SO NEVER MIND THAT IDEA.

I WOULD TALK TO YO ON MSN ABOUT DUNE IF YOU WANT OR JUST TALK HERE OR AT REFCL.

lol
