Big Dick McGee
If you don't know, now ya know
Saw it with LG on Sunday. I give it a B+. Great performances by Emily Blunt and Amy Adams. Alan Arkin was OK, but much too similar to his "crazy grampa" character in Little Miss Sunshine. Clifton Collins, jr., in a supporting role, was outstanding. Even Mary-Lynn Raskjub was pretty good.
I've found that in the last 5-7 years, these are the only types of movies I want to pay money to see. I mean, I'll see the new Trek, and Wolverine movies in the theater, but I honestly don't expect much more than cool explosions and bitchin' SFX. That's my new M.O. I'll see the "Iron Mans" and "Tropic Thunders", but all the other "tentpole" films get relegated to Netflix. Hell, I didn't even see The Dark Knight in threaters, and I'm a HUGE comic nerd.
The Junos and Sunshine Cleanings I'll see in the theaters (and pretty much any decent kid movie, since my son loves going to the movies...and they're generally pretty good). Sometimes you'll be disappointed by a Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, but most times you'll go away happy.
Next up: try to convince LG to see "Adventureland" with me!
