The Legendary Troll King
This one's for Neon.

"My shadow's

Shedding skin and
I've been picking
Scabs again.
I'm down
Digging through
My old muscles
Looking for a clue.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own confused
And insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in.
I wanna feel the changes coming down.
I wanna know what I've been hiding in

My shadow.
Change is coming through my shadow.
My shadow's shedding skin
I've been picking
My scabs again.

I've been crawling on my belly
Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic
And insecure delusions.

I wanna feel the change consume me,
Feel the outside turning in.
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
Cleansing I've endured within

My shadow
Change is coming.
Now is my time.
Listen to my muscle memory.
Contemplate what I've been clinging to.
Forty-six and two ahead of me.

I choose to live and to
Grow, take and give and to
Move, learn and love and to
Cry, kill and die and to
Be paranoid and to
Lie, hate and fear and to
Do what it takes to move through.

I choose to live and to
Lie, kill and give and to
Die, learn and love and to
Do what it takes to step through.

See my shadow changing,
Stretching up and over me.
Soften this old armor.
Hoping I can clear the way
By stepping through my shadow,
Coming out the other side.
Step into the shadow.
Forty six and two are just ahead of me."

The title references an idea first conceived by Carl Jung and later expounded upon by Drunvalo Melchizedek concerning the possibility of reaching a state of evolution at which the body would have two more than the normal 46 total chromosomes and leave a currently disharmonious state.[SUP][/SUP] The premise is that humans would deviate from the current state of human DNA which contains 44 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes. The next step of evolution would likely result in human DNA being reorganized into 46 and 2 chromosomes, according to Melchizedek.

Furthermore, the song references a wish to experience change through the "shadow"; an idea which represents the parts of one's identity that one hates, fears, and represses, this exists as a recurring theme in the work of Carl Jung.

The song is mostly in 4/4 time with some sections of 7/8 in between. In the intro, Danny Carey plays 4 measures of 7/8 on his ride cymbal over the rest of the band playing in 4/4, and they all meet up on the downbeat of the 5th measure in 4/4. During the bridge there are 3 measures of 7/8 followed by one measure of 4/4. During a particular quad fill, the drums are in 3/8, the guitar plays one measure of 9/8 followed by one in 5/8 all while the bass keeps time in 7/8.

But often, extra chromosomes allow for the build up of proteins resulting in Downs Syndrome.

Ah yes

Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
Happier than you and me
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
And it determined what he could see
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
One chromosome, too many
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
And it determined what he could see
And he wore a hat
And he had a job
And he brought home the bacon
So that no one knew
That he was a mongoloid, mongoloid
His friends were unaware
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
Nobody even cared
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
One chromosome, too many
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid
And it determined what he could see
And he wore a hat
And he had a job
And he brought home the bacon
So that no one knew
He was a mongoloid, mongoloid
Happier than you and me

Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid

And he brought home the bacon
So that no one knew
Mongoloid, he was a mongoloid

My parents, my wife, my brother, my sister.
I am listening in a cafeteria at breakfast.
The women's voices rustle, fulfill themselves
In a ritual no doubt necessary.
I glance sidelong at their moving lips
And i delight in being here on earth
For one more moment, with them, here on earth.
To celebrate our tiny, tiny my-ness.

And once there was one DEVO to many, but no one knew. No one cared that they dared to point their fingers.

This one is new. Wrote it this morning

Blue Bubbles

There was a million leagues of deep
The warm ocean visits me in my sleep
The warm corals are sick on bleach
Some sand castles dot the beach
Hiding divided loyalties
Of our weak diluted friends
Don't wake me too fast. please
Lest I succumb to the bends

I know I saw you
Playing with a Mermaid
Insulted misty dew
Drunkenly tripping a shade

You left me alone on the bottom
While you explore decayed Sodom
Ship sunk in pretense of the low down
I am a pearl in my shell to drown
In a river that runs beneath
blue blue bubbles of hiath
Still it doesn't seem that long
Since the whales sang their song

Dedicated to a fallen mast
Death demands we be past
It knows we are lost

This was an assignment. Pretend you are under water and drowning or oppressed.

That one reminds me of my friend who lives on the opposite sides of the continent. She too felt as if she were drowning and no one was there. What she didn't know, and still doesn't know is that I was there all along, and still am there. I am sitting in my boat on the water and she is flailing about in the water, unable to see, unable to feel and chooses the darkness over the light. She chooses struggle, she chooses pain. I send out my anchor, I send out a net, a ladder, hell I even joined her and swam in the ocean for a while. Neither was adequate for what she was searching for. Knowing all this and knowing how it was, I still miss her and dream of her and wish for her.
My lovely mermaid.

Mirah, rearrange those thoughts into a coherent song. You can do that. It would be great. I'm going to post mine in the Inkwell on Facebook.

Yes, I agree I can do it. The first draft was slightly more descriptive and visual, but I settled instead for factual description of the situation. I probably will not revisit that story for right now.
Your poem did remind me of her. Her birthday is coming up soon. I will write again soon.

It's like a fisbowl.
The horizon won't quit as it extends through the arc.
All light is diffused, sparkly, sun-dogs barking like thunder in the sky.
It could be blue, but it gets darker as you get higher.
Supposed to be quiet, but when you pierce the veil
All you hear are bells.

I like that, Jack. See, I get these assignments. Or pictures. The latest one, is an old antique power tower. We have to write about, what it is saying to us.
