So, if I have an old laptop that isn't WiFi ready, can WiFi be added on to it, like an application? Or am I gonna have to shell out money for a new fucking laptop?

Or, am I a dumbass and all laptops have it in them? Help me help myself.

Either one of these will do the trick.

The first one is a USB wifi adapter. You need to make sure your laptop's USB ports are USB 2.0 (They should be unless it's really old) If they aren't then you need the second option.

My laptop is about six years old.

Google the make/model # and find a Specifications page, it will tell you whether or not it's USB 2.0 (it's probably not).

A lot of laptops come with wifi standard nowadays. Six years ago, wifi wasn't that big a deal and many people were still using hard lines. Chances are it has a cat5 hookup, but probably not a USB2.0. It might have an older version of a USB connection and/or a firewire port. There are several adapters you can buy that will convert to a usb2.0 via those conduits. Most computer stores will have them, and they're easily found online.

I'd google your laptop!

Thank you, oh wise technical ones!! :)
