Tennant's Doctor Who!

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
I'm starting to really dig the Tennant Doctor Who! Here are the eps I've watched thus far, with grades:

Children in Need: C+
The Christmas Invasion 1st half: B, 2nd half: A+! The story was just ok, but I liked Tennant's take on the doctor and LOVED the aliens!
New Earth: A. The cat-women were awesome, and the way it dovetailed with the 2nd episode of last season was great.
Tooth and Claw: B. Loved the portrayal of Queen Victoria, and the formation of The Torchwood Institute.

Perhaps my grades are a bit generous, but I am really digging this updated Doctor Who! I really liked Eccleston, and I'm glad I've given Tennant a fair chance!

David Tennant is an awesome Doctor - there's a couple of so so episodes in the current season, but for the most part he's great

OMG, I agree with BDM - quick, someone take a picture!

I loved Eccleston's Doctor, and was afraid that his replacement wouldn't be as good. But Tenant has really grown on me; in some ways I like him even better.

^AGREED! OMFG!!! :)

You know the ONE thing that bugs me? Why the hell did they have to go and fuck up a nice Saville Row 3-piece suit by having the Doctor wear SNEAKERS??? UGH!

School Reunion: A+!!!

Oh man, it was so great seeing Sarah Jane and K-9 again, and the addition of Anthony Stewart Head was the icing on the cake. The story was cool, and the dialogue, especially Mickey's, was fantastic.

"Oh, God! I'm the tin dog!"
"We are in a car. We are in a car. WE. ARE. IN. A. CAR."

Classic!

I NEED HELP, though!! I've managed to find all the episodes so far, except "The Idiot's Lantern"! I find one torrent for it on torrentspy, and it won't download. Ugh. If someone can provide me with a direct link, it'd be most appreciated!

^I loved that one!!! Did you know that the actress playing Mme. Pompadour is Tenant's girlfriend? I thought she did a terrific job with the role.

^^WHAT? That lucky sonuvabitch! She's beautiful.

While the "A" story was just pretty good, the character development was excellent. This is 2 episodes in a row that deal with the inherent loneliness of a Time Lord. The acting by Tennant's girlfriend was superb, and Mickey even managed to not annoy me this episode. The villians were wonderfully old-school Doctor Who, but not so low-budget to offend my 21st-century sensibilites. A masterful episode!

One thing that bugged me: The ending, where they reveal the name of the vessel (and presumably the droids' motivations for choosing de Pompadour), seemed tacked on, and vaguely "Twilight Zone-ish".

Can't wait to watch the next ep tonight!

Tennant is exactly my age (I'll be 35 on Sunday).

Sophia Myles, his girlfriend, is 26.

I like him more and more every day!

Try taking out the ' in the idiots lantern

She wasnt his gf before that episode.

Tennant is a good doctor, he just hasnt had a lot of good episodes, and there is some terrible mugging by him and Billie in some episodes that should have been rained in

^^Really? So far I've liked every single episode I've seen!

I'll try that suggestion for Idiots Lantern, thanks!

Found "The Idiot's Lantern", thanks for the heads-up, Whisky. I've now d/l all the episodes that have aired, need to burn from "Idiot's Lantern" to "Fear Her" tonight.

I watched "Rise of the Cybermen" and "The Age of Steel" last night. Two more big fat juicy grade-A episodes.

Now, I only caught a few episodes of the Tom Baker Doctor in my youth, when PBS aired them. So I was completely unfamiliar with the Cybermen. In fact, the only characters I am familiar with that have appeared in this latest iteration of Doctor Who are the Daleks, K-9, and Sarah Jane Smith. I'm just pointing this out because I am anything but a Doctor Who obsessive.

GREAT episodes, full of action and the Doctor's trademark wit. Lord help me, maybe it's because I'm watching them over the space of a few days, but I am liking Tennant's Doctor even better than Eccleston's. BLASPHEMY!!

Anyway, there were a few "so-so" episodes during Eccleston's season, but so far I've really liked every episode of this season.

Can't wait to see the rest!!
