Is this real life?
Watched the first episode... not baaaad. It starts off a bit Blade Runner, then becomes a mishmash of Jurassic Park (dinosaurs), Outcasts (humans on a new planet discovering signs of a preexisting civilisation) and Avatar (metal ore is a plot point and the main military guy looks like a skinny version of whatever his name was).

"They mostly hunt at night..." "Mostly."

There's a bad actor from Neighbours. This seems to be a running theme in American scifi/fantasy shows. The rest of the actors aren't bad. It's got a bit of that touchy feely family thing that most Spielberg things do, but not in a horrible Fallen Skies way. Main guy has stolen Hugh Jackman's voice.

The CGI is a bit ropey at times, but pretty good for a tv show, especially one that has so many effects shots. Over all it's a pretty convincing world.

Anyone else seen it?
 
I did, and other than the teens being incredibly STUPID (let's stay outside until nightfalls before heading home cuz we know there are dinos that hunt at night!!), there weren't too many cring-worthy moments. oh, wait -the guy playing the dad is a terrible actor. would def give it another go. Like the dinosaurs!
 
The reviews I read didn''t make it sound all that good and I feared another Falling Skies. Don't know if I'll bother.

Why do they travel back in time to a time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth? Why not after they've died?

It looked a bit like another Falling Skies and the reviews I read weren't very encouraging so I didn't bother. Don't really feel like watching anything new OR DOING ANYTHIGN EVER AGAIN at the moment.

Well I couldn't stand to watch Falling Skies but so far I'm liking Terra Nova. There are some interesting back stories developing and I don't regularly want to kill the characters myself. In the most recent episode I enjoyed the detail about the eggshells. Yes, the teenagers pull some dumb shit but I've worked with teenagers long enough to know that Dumb Shit MacDonald should be the universal teenager clan name.

The timeline things is explained early on. It is plausible enough that I can suspend my disbelief and enjoy things. Though I wish they'd explain how they could get info back from the probe or send recruitment requests when the wormhole type phenomenon only works one way.

My biggest complaint is that it's on Fox so will likely get cancelled if it ever goes from good to excellent.
 
I liked it, good first two episodes, and decent FX for the dynasours.

Oh and the military guy looks like the guy out of avatar because it is him.
 
Yeah, my friend told me today he was the same actor and I DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM but then I looked on IMDb. That guy is now the poster child for typecasting. He is good in the role, though.

The Neighbours actor is Dean Geyer who was Tai. He looks a bit different, but has the exact same role; hot, but nice dude for girls to swoon over. At first I thought the boy in it was a real life brother of Ramsey Street Kyle, but apparently the guy's Canadian, so they just happen to look weirdly similar.

It's no Fallen Skies. Not yet anyway. There's a little girl that has touching moments with her daddy, etc, but over all people are only happy flappy up to a point. They've escaped their time period, where the Earth was overpopulated and everything was orange, so they have good reason to be cheerful even if they're surrounded by dinosaurs.
 
Well they did always say the future was orange in the adverts.

Just be greatful the future wasnt awful unfunny film pastiches.
 
I can't be bothered donwloading but it's on Sky so if I see it on one day when I'm self harming I might watch.

I barely even remember him...we he the hot musician Donna tried to rape and the kids sang "unforgettable" when he left? Oh god.
 
Its obviously an Avatar ripoff for television but its not bad I guess, the sure spent the money on it didnt they though?
 
Yeah, that'd be the one. He was cross eyed. Instead of having actual plotlines he'd always be in the garden mowing the lawn with his shirt off, or "just coming out of the shower" wearing only a towel and a smile.

Watched episode 3. Lots of pterodactyls... pretty good episode all in all. There were quite a few "family togetherness" type scenes, but there was also a guy with his eyes gouged out in the very first scene, so you win some you lose some.
