The Americans

Holy fuckballs, this is a good show. I was skeptical about it, because it's set in the 80's and it's about Russian spies and all that. I figured it would probably either be too hokey or too POW POW POW ACTION HI-TECH SPY SHIT, but it was not at all what I expected. It was suspenseful, and well acted, and much more thoughtful and interesting than what we normally get from a TV show.

TWO THUMBS UP, OKAY?

Oh and it's on FX if anyone is wondering. I'm sure they will rerun the pilot this week sometime, if you are interested in catching up. The pilot is an hour and half long, BUT I looked at the clock when it was nearly over and was actually disappointed because I didn't want it to end. THAT'S HOW GOOD IT WAS.

Keri Russell is the leading spy lady, but I don't think she has ever been on the Wacky Hot 100.

Will check it out in the hopes of getting to the next Homeland before everyone else and I can smugly introduce them to it. Oh and I guess I'll enjoy watching it too.

I read something today and it seems that there's a real spy helping with the writing. He tells them NO THAT ISN'T WHAT A SPY WOULD DO, I SHOULD KNOW I WAS A SPY, and then they fix it. I guess that may be why the show didn't go off into hokey pokey land. Plus, with the show being set in the early 80's they can't use super gadgetry to save the day, so they have to rely on the human factor a lot more.

I think it's set somewhere in the Midwest, so there ain't no y'alls, okay? :rwmad:

I REMEMBER THE 80s.
