It was another one of those episodes where you think you're going to finally begin to understand what's happening, only for them to throw a whole load more questions at you.

I'm trying to figure out if we know what the secret is. Maybe it's that there was only one way off the island. Jack was mostly interested in how Naomi expected to get off the island.
The whole "let's kill someone in public while they're tied to a pillar" thing striked me as very odd. I didn't think the Others were so barbaric. You wouldn't think they'd stand for that, even knowing what "Tom Sawyer" had done.

I think it was a given that James would kill Sawyer, I didnt think it would be Liea/Jabba style, but given all the other star wars references it shouldnt have been a surprise.
That was pretty brutal for TV.
Jack is a twat now, I dont know if he was brainwashed, or if the truth that he knows is that time passes faster off the island than on it.
Lets look at the facts.
TVs in the station are old, way old, the satalites station run by patchy, looked old tech, vacume tubes, way old, VW camper vans, way old.
Syied said the phone was more advanced than he had ever seen, but hes a techie, well up on the latest tech, therefor it suggests tech has moved on a lot in the "three months" they have been on the island.
Maybe when Desmond didnt enter the codes, the magnetic pulse did more than bring the plane down, maybe it split it on the quantum level, one crashed, and one went on to go down in bali.

^it's also occured to me more than once that Jack may be brainwashed . He's just taken too much of a complete turn about in his opinion of the Others. WHY and HOW could he ever trust Juliet otherwise?
OTOH....He's showing the same lack of common sense he had re forcing that woman in Thailand to give him the tattoo....

As far as he knows, she ended up stuck on the island against her will and wants off just as much as he does. Also, she trusted him to kill Ben for her when she barely knew him(of course, she was really just trusting that Jack hated Ben as much as she did and wouldn't turn up a chance to kill him with impunity), so in his mind he has reason to trust her. He also fancies her and is pissed off at his best friend among the Losties, Kate.

Oh yeah.. I can't wait till Sawyer plays that tape. The previews have Jack asking Sawyer where he got it and he says something like "you're in no position to be asking questions" I haven't liked Jack for the longest time, he's a whiny crybaby.
The whole deal with the Others was just way too weird. I wonder what they would have done if Locke had cut his dad's throat. Put him on a spit and roasted him over the camp fire? I think Ben's got Locke completely freaked out... enough that he's willing to go along with whatever in order to figure out what the Others really are. The only thing that stopped him from killing his dad was his own squeamishness.
OH.. and the Others are coming for the pregnant women in 3 days according to Locke. Juliet hasn't had time to test all the women, not that they'd just let her do it anyway. So, how are the Others supposed to know which ones to snag?
